Yes, I’m a magazine whore. Where is the least expensive place to buy cases of 100 30rd magazines? I’m talking about real GI quality, not anything questionable. PSA has D&H (PSA marked floor plates) for $8 each with Magpul followers. I read where people can buy them for $6 each, but I can’t find such a deal. Thanks in advance.
PSA will occasionally blow their mags out for around $6, so if you want them, I’d get on their mailing list and just keep an eye on their deals. I personally don’t consider D&H to be G.I. magazines, but that’s just me. I know other people are fine with them. I prefer Okay / Colt / NHMTG. The cases at 44mag.com are a little pricey at the moment - I think they sometimes go down to around $10.99 per mag with free shipping. It’s probably cheapest to order 100 individual mags right now - best price I’m seeing is at Lanbo’s for $9.94 ($10 flat rate shipping)
Botach does $9.95 with free shipping if you buy 6 or more , but they’re out of stock right now (and some people don’t like ordering from them):
I personally think the extra couple bucks per mag are worth it for real USGI quality. Okay just announced a new Surefeed E2 magazine, and the rumor is that the MSRP in their standard mag is going to drop when the E2 is released.
I prefer Okay also. This is a deal but not exactly what you want. http://palmettostatearmory.com/ten-d-h-5-56-30rd-aluminum-magazines-ten-magpul-pmag-5-56-30rd-magazines.html
A unit I was in bought a bazillion of these mags to put in speedballs (pre-loaded re-supply packages) about 10 or 11 years ago. I’m still using the ones I kept. I put magpul followers in them eventually. Love ‘em.
You can get Okay surefeeds for about the same price, and they are very good.
deleted…not as cheap as others listed
There is a guy on Carolina Shooter’s Club right now that has a case of 100 new Okay 30 rounders for $550.
They have tan followers if that matters to anyone. Doesn’t that magazine use a proprietary spring that doesn’t work with any other follower? The current commercial Okay mags ship with Magpul followers.
Not sure about that.
I guess you skipped to the last post before your’s. This one is irrelevant.
Call these people and ask about their price on a case of Okays.

Yes, that’s correct. The black and green GI followers and Magpul’s followers have the attachment point for the spring offset towards the rear of the follower. On the tan follower, the little loop for the spring is in the center of the follower. The tan follower spring will not work with Magpul followers. Having said that, I haven’t seen any issues with the tan follower myself, but I prefer Magpul’s.
Would you please elaborate as to why you don’t consider D&H to be G.I. magazines? They have sold to the military, correct? Has their quality gone down or am I missing something else?
I’m open to calling people, but would you provide some more information about the seller?
It’s a place called M&P Depot. They’ve done really good case prices on Okays in the past.
I just double checked and I had their number wrong. Try. (336) 546-9521
As far as I know, the U.S. military has never purchased any magazines under the D&H name (although apparently Canada has). I’ve never seen one in my 25 years in the Army (if you include my time as a cadet). My understanding is that D&H evolved from the old G.I. mag manufacturer LaBelle - either the company was renamed or D&H acquired them and their magazine tooling.
As far as their quality goes, my take is purely subjective, but they just don’t seem to be made as well or as consistent relative to the Okay mags that I’ve compared them to. The metal seems slightly thinner - they seem to have a little more flex to them when I squeeze the sides. The welds look kind of sloppy with ripples along the spine, and the edge of the weld isn’t completely sealed, compared to the smooth, continuous seam on an Okay mag. These observations make me wonder if they weren’t meeting the government magazine standards, and that’s why they’ve never had a military contract. There could be plenty of other reasons, including “politics,” underbidding by competitors, etc., but if I’m going to spend money on metal mags, I just personally prefer to stick with the G.I. mags I’ve been using for a couple decades.
D&H had a contract back in the black follower days when they were Labelle, nothing recent. Back in those days there were like two sets of body forming dies that were owned by the U.S. and went with the contract. Plus the way to get the contract was to be a minority owned company. About the tan followers, they do work and are anti tilt but their biggest flaw is that they moved the top round to the opposite side of the GI or Magpul follower. I figure they did this to get around the Magpul patent.

1937- The origins of D&H Industries trace back to LaBelle (started in 1937 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin) and General Stamping (started in 1975 in New Berlin, Wisconsin). LaBelle was one of the early magazine producers of M-16 magazines for the US Military and law enforcement agencies.
I’ve read many people opine that Okay mags are better than D&H, but I’ve yet to read of any problems with D&H. Also, right or wrong, I feel a company like BCM wouldn’t put their name on D&H mags if they weren’t good to go. I would have no problem buying more D&H mags in the future, although I already have more mags than I’ll use in my lifetime.
