Sad to say that I have limited spare parts for my rifles for how much as I shoot them. For the higher round count guys, where do you get your spare parts from? (gas rings, gas block pins (pins in general), gas tube etc. Now I know these won’t wear out in a few thousand rounds other than say buffer spring/gas rings (maybe). I just would like to keep a parts bin of spare parts. Say I wanted to build a rifle and screwed up a pin or had a serve case of dumbass and now this 1 dollar item is keeping a 1500 rifle from functioning.
I’m sure there are only a few companies that make quality parts, I’m just trying to weed out the DPMS/etc crap.
That’s the first place I went (brownells) but didn’t recognized some of the names as quality. When looking seem like I ran in to armlite or DMPS.
I would like to have a one stop shop. Rainier doesn’t carry gas rings as odd as that may sound, I called them to verify it. I’ll have to check out SA…Thanks!!
I think you would have a hard time finding your own needs to be “bulk” as compared to those of G&R, Rainier Arms, BCM or others. What a lot of people do is keep a couple lower parts kits on hand, then purchase the rings, spare bolts and other pieces in whatever amount they think they need.
That’s the way I was thinking about it would need to be done. Might have to just pick up some GR/Rainier/DD/BCM part kits. I need a few extra bolts…I like to have enough spare parts for each rifle. So if I have 2 rifles each rifle would have the following - bolt, firing pin, cam pin, 2 or 3 sets of gas rings, extractor/ejector spring/pin/oring/etc for. Is all that need? No, but I like to have piece of mind.
Ideally what would be commonly replaced on a rifle with 5-10k down the tube?
