For 124 gr FMJ, I use whatever SP primers I have (currently CCI and Wolf) and I usually run 4.3-4.4 gr of 231. I’ve used a variety of bullets, including Zero, Precision Delta, and Berry’s thick plate among others. OAL is at 1.13.
Iam pretty sure i got the last 2 pndrs on the planet. I havent seen any more since i walked into a gunstore and they had this. Ill have to figure out what to use when this runs out.
Depends on the primer. Some small rifle and pistol primers are the exact same. I never change the powder charge if I’m running rifle primers. If I ran SR magnums it might be a concern. But I never use those in pistol anyway.
I should have mentioned that the small rifle primers I use are somewhat “hotter” than small pistol primers, and I originally started using them for hot USPSA Major PF loads. The thicker cup and extra pressure helped to push 9mm bullets fast enough to make PF without having the primer flow back into the firing pin channel and break a firing pin.
Yeah. I’ve not done extensive chrono testing with subbing primers in pistol. And with SR primers usually harder to find in panics than SP, I never shoot sub rifle primers anymore.
It honestly is. I picked up an eight pounder of TAC locally last month, and an eight pounder of CFE pistol in the same fashion last week. And there is almost always single pounds of TAC available locally.
Pistol powder is very slim pickings around here. I never drive by a store without going in to check what they have on hand. Really want to get my hands on some 300MP.
I sure will , looks like 4.3 gr,is about the way to go,or start.
It supposed to rain the next 2 days here,so that will give me some time to do it.
Iam gona try to get over to the range in the morning before it starts and at least get some .22 time in.
