What's the verdict on "Hiperfire" triggers?

Yes, I did. Guy set the safety, pulled trigger to remove some of creep, released trigger, released safety, then fired. Then set safety at 45 degrees, pulled trigger to remove most of the creep, released trigger, released safety, then fired. Not a big deal when taking a shot at steel or a coyote or something similar. Not good when kicking down doors to shoot badguys in the face.

It’s not a big deal, folks. I do thinks it’s a gimmick and a silly one at that, but no more “full retard” than taking up the first stage of my Geisselle. (Ok, in fairness, if I had this trigger I’d worry the safety would fail someday, so I have to give you that.)

I admit to a caveat. I haven’t tried this thing either. My point is that we lose our professional demeanor when we run something down like this. It’s much like someone asserting their off-brand AR is good to go before firing a single shot

Not bashing you or sticking up for this darwin award winning trigger, but I thought your comment was interesting and made me reflect upon the first time I heard of “nightforce” scopes… my initial impression was mall ninja sniper gear… just a humorous observation

Any updates to the opinions on the hiperfire? It seems these are really catching on with the 3 gun competition crowd now with the new “24C” version.

What does it do that a Geissele won’t, lets not forget they add 2 extra springs and 2 extra parts to an already simple FCG system.

All this for a gun meant for combat use?

Yes, and “Surefire” and “Advanced Armament” and “Bravo Company” and “Gunfighter this and that” and…

Yeah, if you stop and think about it, there are a lot of names that sound really chintzy if you look at them from a perspective of the unknown reputation, and think of how you would react to hearing the name knowing NOTHING but the name.

I think that’s the beauty of it though. The platform may have originally been designed with combat as it’s primary goal, but it has definitely morphed into much more than that. I think that is an awesome thing and in my opinion, good from the perspective of them being more widely accepted by society. I think more people probably own an AR platform rifle now than ever before. Their use, as a result has branched out from their original mission. Aside from the 1911 maybe, I don’t think many other platforms have so many choices of aftermarket parts and support. Sure, there is a lot of “Mall Ninja” stuff out there, but since there is so much out there we have choices and can ignore the ridiculous stuff. Competition shooting with ARs is very popular right now, especially in 3-Gun, tactical rifle matches, etc… If it brings more support and popularity to AR’s, I’m all for it. Who knows, competition use may result in development of some new equipment or innovations that could possibly transfer over and be useful in combat as well. I just think the more people that have them and use them in responsible ways only helps normalize them more and thats a good thing. All that being said, I wouldn’t mind trying one of the Hiperfire 24C triggers out in my AR for competition. However, for my 6920, that is more for defensive purposes, probably will pass for now.

I will be ordering 1 at the end of the month. My buddy has 3 or 4 on his 3 gun rifles. I like the trigger. I have played with a lot of different ar platforms and this trigger was real crisp, with very little try travel. After pulling the trigger I was sold.

Thanks, FINALLY a first hand experience rather than just pre-judgement based on how many extra parts it has, or the name of the product. Experience goes a long way.

Drarmament, I and many others here would appreciate a more detailed review, if possible. I appreciate your input, but need something of substance. You can’t just jump in the middle of this bar fight and say “nu-uh!.”

As soon as I get it I’ll write a full review. Since I played with it a few minutes on my buddies sbr it was the best trigger I ever used. He uses for the 3 gun and goes to the range about 70 times a year and never had an issue.

I’m going to order the 24c on Thursday.

I have one I’m testing in a 3 gun rifle. It’s the one with the flat trigger face. Really nice trigger. I like the extremely fast lock time and the the pull and feel is excellent. No complaints so far - 3 months in.

Not a fan of this.

I can just imagine getting any small debris or a primer suck in there.

The way the HyperFire works it looks anything but delicate

I’m interested in hearing more about this trigger a friend sent me this review video didn’t know if anyone else on here has seen it.

I ordered the Hiperfire 24E. Got it from brownell using there LEO/Mil discount. Normally cost 215, they sold it to me for 200. 7.95 for shipping, hopefully it will be here in a week. I have never pulled the trigger on a 24E, just on the 24.

I’ve had one of these for about a year. It is semi-complex to install or remove, with springs, bars, rods, etc., that all have to be controlled at once to get them in place. In operation, it is smooth, with minimal takeup or overtravel, and smooth reset. Virtually no “grit” to it. The heaviest spring (4 pound rating) produces an operation that I consider too light - definitely not suitable for a duty weapon. The biggest drawback, though, would be for operation in dirty environments, with all the different parts to attract dust and dirt, and god help you if a primer landed in there. It’s fine for a smooth pull when punching holes on a flat range, but that’s all. I wouldn’t buy another.

We just ordered one of each of their models as well as an unreleased model that I can’t get into details about. We have had a lot of customers, competitive shooters, and industry partners telling us about how great these are. I will admit my little time dry firing one I was impressed, it had a very nice single stage break, weight was consistent, no creep, and reset was positive and distinct. That was pretty limited so I am still reserving judgment until I can get some hard use. If you like single stage triggers, I think most who give it a shot would respect the trigger. As far as the name, I was first turned off when I heard about it. I assumed it was “hyper fire” as a marketing thing about increased rate of fire. The name is Hiper, from High Performance Firearm Accessories, learning that it makes sense and logical. We got a lot of crap for our line of rifles named after a “weird mythological cow woman” so whatever. I don’t hold too much into the name as it’s been pointed out there are some names in the industry that if they came out today would probably be under scrutiny. I’m more interested in does it deliver, will it keep delivering over time after real use, and does it deliver better than what I’m using now.

Now, all of the above is fine and dandy but we want to know how it will hold up for a carbine class or 3, 3 gun matches, no cleaning, dirty, and yes I’ll be throwing a primer in the FCG to see what happens. I have had the privilege of speaking with the owner of the company who is the engineer and I respect his approach to this trigger. I’m cautious of the extra springs/parts, they are called toggle springs, but I was informed the trigger will work just fine with them removed, all be it slightly heavier pull weight. The toggle springs also help with hammer force without using a lighter weight spring like the JP system does. This has me interested for our 5.45 rifles as we shoot a crap load of surplus ammo. I too am interested in the actual pull weights and would like to verify before putting in a duty rifle. Is a single stage 4 lbs too light for a duty rifle, I guess I’ll see when I get the triggers.

I’m not committed in any way to Hiperfire, merely we are seeing if they are a product we want to explore as an option for our rifles. They are gaining a lot of support and demand in the 3 gun market which is an area we like to be involved in. For the patrol/duty/tactical side I will be evaluating their other offerings too looking from that perspective as I’m a fulltime LEO/Armorer/Instructor. Would I allow my officers to install this trigger? I like single stage triggers, I also like double stage, especially as we have a proven offering available that I don’t worry about breaking with use. Bill makes a great trigger and has a large share of the tactical market. Is Hiperfire a legit option in that market?

I’ll try and update my experience as well as how they compare to my Geisseles, JP, QMS, and stock triggers. I will see what they offer, do over the others and so on. Will one end up in my game gun, patrol rifle, training rifle??? Time will tell.

Dave

Excellent, thanks Dave. I’m particularly interested in your opinion on margin of safety in comparing 2 Stage Geisseles to the single stage 24 offerings. These guys advertise the single stage as being a solution to 2stage anticipation issues. Is that a real issue, and is giving up the level of safety with having a heavier first stage pull worth it? Looking forward to your analysis.

Dave,

Great post, and not just because your thoughts echo my own. I’ve had one for a few months, and have tried to get a lot of people to dry fire it to get feedback, so far there has been zero negativity on the feel of the trigger from anyone. Durability hasn’t been an issue on mine, but I’ll cycle and dry fire/ live fire it a few thousand more times before I can say much on that.

I’m not sure I would personally use one for duty use, but I tend to prefer a clean and slightly heavy trigger pull over the light pull favored by many. I was given another Hiperfire trigger by a buddy to try aside from the super light straight trigger (which I do like). Once I install that, I’ll be able to give my thoughts there as well.
