What's the longest supressor mount I can P/W on a barrel?

Which suppressor mount will add the most length to a barrel? Is there one that’s long enough to get a 12.5 up to 16" so it will be legal with a pin and weld job?

Basically trying to find the combination of shortest barrel length and longest suppressor mount capable muzzle device that will get to 16" so I can pin and wld it on and run the shortest suppressed set up possible without it being an SBR or pistol.

The longest ones I am aware of would be the NOX from sons of liberty gunworks for the Dead Air Keymo system. It will work on a 13.7 barrel. I also had a BE Meyers silencerco pattern mount on a 13.7 a few years ago. Beyond that most are a bit shorter and you would need a 13.9-14" barrel. Not exactly the same thing, but I know of a few people who have pinned/welded a direct thread can on a barrel. That would be the shortest option overall. The sig 556 direct thread would be one option, but there are several out there that you could use.

The old .30 caliber YHM mounts were pretty long. Maybe check those out.

You are pissing up a rope wasting time trying to make a 12 1/2" barrel 16" long as cheap as barrels are. Do what nate89 said… Integral suppressor are not really mainstream but there are options out there. Daniel Defense is one of them.

Daniel Defense, Gemtech, Suppressed Weapon Systems. These’ll get you out of SBR territory and not be longer than necessary.

We have the complete SWS rifles at work and like them.

Other than save $200, what is the point in this? I mean, it one tax stamp vs. two tax stamps.

LaRue Suurg uses a muzzle device that takes a 11.5 barrel to 16. They sell just the muzzle but the suppressor I believe is only part of their Suurg kit

Don’t need to file an ATF Form 5320.20 to travel across state lines?

Not interested in pinning and welding a can onto a barrel

Does there have to be a point other than it’s something that I want to do? Also what sproc said.

I think a 13.7 with a BE meyers would be cool. Still I’m just wondering if a longer mount exists out there.

Where are the baffles going to go if the mount is as long as the silencer?

Shroud welded to barrel making it 16" that the can mounts inside of.

Find me that setup, in 1/2x28. It doesn’t or at least didn’t exist when I looked. TacSol sells the 10/22 barrel or a 5.56 upper, but not a sleeve for people to pin/weld their own setups. I emailed and asked for them to sell me just the sleeve and they said no.

I wanted one for my M&P15-22 but couldn’t find one.

It wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to build one. It’s nothing more than a piece of the appropriate size steel tubing tig welded a to steel bushing that might take 10 minutes to turn. The OD/end of your barrel would have to be turned straight if it isn’t already. The bushing would be welded to the barrel just aft of your existing 1/2-28 threads. The hardest part would be the ventilation cuts in the shroud to keep the Feds off of your ass.

This guy might have a good point

I’ve looked into shrouds before, but they seemed to be unobtainum. Wouldn’t be too hard to make something like that with some welding skills though. After reading the replies I think I like the 13.7/BC Meyers Idea the best. I’m not even sure if those mounts are still available. But that’d be a nice setup with one of those short Dead Air suppressors.

From what I understand, the BE Meyers mounts are no longer made. They can be fairly tough to track down. Also, they never made a Keymount version as far as I am aware, they only did the ASR and MAAD mounts for SiCo cans. If you want to use a dead air can, you will need to use the NOX on a 13.7, or add a thicker spacer to use a standard dead air FH or Muzzle Brake. I went with the latter and did a pin/weld with a Dead Air flash hider on a Ballistic advantage 13.7. that was before the NOX was available. If you like the BA barrel, I have also used their 14" barrel and that opens up a lot more options muzzle device wise.

Have you considered a conventional 14.X” with a micro sized silencer? A 5.56 is always loud, even more so with a short barrel.

If I was buying silencers now a micro 5.56 and a moderately sized 7.62 would cover most of my rifle needs.

I agree. I have heard the turbo K on a 14.5 gun and I was impressed for the size and weight. I have a sandman s and k, and besides the sandman K likely being more “durable” I think the turbo has it beat in just about every other metric:sound, weight, cost, length…

Going 14-14.5 opens up a lot of options for cans and muzzle devices.
