I use the free surefire app on my iPhone
IPSC Shot Timer Beta Android.Just got it. No practical use yet.
Ill try it till i can buy one, thanks
RWH24, thanks for the heads up
I use the CED7000 mostly.
Expect about a year or two of life if exposed to adverse conditions.
I have also used the pocket pro 2, which is the easiest/most intuitive to use and maintain, but the form factor sucks and I hated its beep after a short while.
I find the smartphone apps be non-usable for most things that I want out of a timer, but at least they’re free.
Really, the market is well overdue a decent timer.

Do any of these timers work reliably with suppressed AR15s?
Yes.
Most have sensitivity control, however, if you have others in proximity the setting will usually also pick up their shots as well as the suppressed shots.

We (the group I shoot with, and the mouse in my pocket) all run the Surefire App… It works, has proven to provide reliable splits, and we all have smart phones on us pretty much 24/7. Put it into airplane mode to make sure a call doesn’t come in during a stage and away we go. At some point I’ll probably invest in a dedicated timer, but the need hasn’t arisen just yet.

Pappabear, if you don’t mind I’m going to bump this. Doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of consensus here, anyone else use the PACT Club Timer?

I bought the pocket Pro 2 , have yet use it. I’m going to have to force Markm to shoot pistols. We got a little bored last week on long range. Next time out we might have to bang some pistols.
I have seen quite a few different timers break. I’ve seen mostly LCD display failures, cracking or matrix errors. I’ve seen a lot of plastic chip or crack. battery compartment or battery contact failures.
so which timer is the most robust?
At our club, we have a collection of Pocket Pro and Pocket Pro II timers. The pocket pro I timers have been there since before I moved into the area. We needed a few more so we bought a bunch of Pocket Pro IIs. They lasted about two years. We had one day in particular where it was raining pretty hard during a match. That day alone took out 2 or 3 of the timers. The original Pocket Pros kept ticking. I have since bought more of the originals. You can find them on sale for around $100 on Midway.
I personally also have a CED7000. While it functions fine, it does not seem to be quite as well made and is more expensive. The smaller profile makes it easy to stick anywhere. But it seems like I’m constantly having to recharge it. The Pocket Pro timers run on a 9V for a good while. Also, as far as user interface goes, it doesn’t get much simpler than the pocket pro.
And yes, we’ve ran the timers while suppressed. We’ve even ran them with suppressed 22s on their most sensitive setting.
Yes, Midway puts them on sale literally every couple months. It was just on sale in Dec, so based on the last year of history it will probably go on sale again in Feb or Mar (although it’s usually $110-115, not quite $100).
And I have an original for the same reasons and like it well enough.
You’re right. I just looked and got mine for $110.
Still a good deal! I think I paid $115 and it’s been worth it to me.
