I don’t know either. Just trying to get someone’s attention.![]()
There is really a need for an acronym sticky. Could someone work on that please?
Thanks from a noobe.

I am pretty sure that you could do a little research and Google the terms you are looking for.
Doesn’t work with BCG or MWS, but I’ll keep trying.
I went looking around other forums and found this:o
http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=12&f=1&t=16
Guess I’ll have to bookmark it until I get smart. Those guys think Bushmaster is top tier:sarcastic:.
Finding multiple errors before even getting to ‘C’ just further reinforces the notion that ARFCOM is not a place I want to be… as if that hadn’t been done enough…
Depending upon the usage, it could mean almost anything.
Where/when/how did you see it being used?
I just typed in what is a BCG in gun speak and found the answer. You have to know how to ask the question. Also, I bet that if you went to LMT’s website you would see what the MWS is.
Could you be more specific, in what context was it used? Maybe post a link to the thread in question? I wouldn’t waste your time looking for the answer to anything on ARFcom.
Noticed that they didn’t have TOS on the list…strange:sarcastic:
I noticed some things missing too. They aren’t really a great forum, but it’s a start. You guys all have some good ideas. I’m going to bookmark this thread for when I have trouble with any search.
Almost forgot, what is “gun speak”? Is it OK?
I still think M4Carbine.net needs an acronym guide as I figure it would be right. On the other hand, I just discovered http://www.acronymfinder.com/.
There is a lot of stuff to scan, but I found ACOG, MWS, BCG and BO on there. Helps to click the “Military and Government” tab. I have them bookmarked now too.
TOS: Tip of the Spear? Training Objective Statement? Tactical Operations System? Type Of Shipment?
Still some ambiguity if you use a general source. That’s why I think M4Carbine.net needs a guide.
Thanks tons,

Someone used AO in a reply to me recently, and no amount of Googling or looking at the links in this thread did a thing for me. If I was an artist, I’d have the word “Acronyms” circled with a big red circle, and one fat red slash thru it. :nono: AO?
Area of Operation?
Yes. AO = Area of Operation. Templar answered it for me in another thread. I’ve heard it before, but it didn’t stick. It should stick this time. Thanks. ![]()
Could also mean adjustable objective if refering to optics. Too many acronyms, too many possibilities; isn’t context a great word? I’d add something political but it’s the wrong forum.
QVR- Queen Victoria’s Rifles is what google came up with.
TOS- The Other Site
