what would you do?

own a bushmaster m4 that i intend on keeping as an open sight only rifle. looking to purchase an optics ready carbine but am having a hard time deciding on the optics. kinda like the idea of an acog for the ranging ability, bullet drop comp and lack of batteries but would be stuck with a fixed power scope. leupold 1.5x5 mr/t looks good also but am having a time finding info about the special purpose reticule as to ranging ability and explanations about the hold over marks. i pretty much shoot xm-193 ball only as i have other rifles for out past 300 yds. i am not an armchair commando, l.e.o., or military. just want an optically sighted carbine for ease of carry and enjoyment that looks right! which way would you go? i don’t have a problem paying for good optics but would not pay for a schmidt&bender if a leupold would suit my needs just as well. i want to spend the $'s wisely. thanx, vic

I’d look into Trijicon’s offerings. http://http://trijicon.com/user/parts/parts_new.cfm?categoryID=5

This should answer your questions about the Leupold SPR reticle. I owned a 1.5-5X briefly before moving to a 2.5-8X (wanted more magnification). I liked the SPR reticle a lot and wish Leupold would offer it in other magnification levels. I also understand the 1.5-5X MR/T is a popular 3 gun optic.

I’d also give the new Trijicon Accupoint TR24G 1-4X a hard look.

How about the Nightforce NXS 1-4?

Is that a viable option for you?
