whats you opinion on this i love the m4 but a bigger clamber weapon would be helpful

Since the thread is not closed, I will post. The 6.5 Grendel or a variation of it would offer great long range potential, moderate barrier penetration abilities, and low recoil for new shooters (most recruits). The easiest route IMO is to have FN put it in the SCAR platform and away we go.
But perhaps a better solution would be for .mil to have several specialized weapons for various applications. The M4 could remain the standard. Perhaps a long range option like the 6.5 Grendel or the like would be good for Afghanistan. Guards in a guard house who need to shoot incoming vehicles could be issued SCARs in 7.62x51. Etc. Some will say that the logistics of such a situation are impossible. But we handled those logistics in WWII without computers, so we can do it today.
