What twist rate?

I’ve seen a lot of instances of 1:7 and 1:9 and arguments why each is best. For a rifle that has no specific purpose like competition or long range or whatever but is just going to be to enjoy at the range at various distances with whatever ammo is available what is the best twist rate? It seems like 1:8 might be best as it splits the difference between both of the “this one is best” twist rates.

1-7 or 1-8. I haven’t looked at varmint ammo in ages but odds are for general fun the ammo you select will be 55-62 grain. The problem you will run in to is there aren’t many “quality” barrels made with 1-9.

I see you are pretty new. Take a little time to research the topic.
