What Torque Wrench?

Is a Craftsman Beam type Torque wrench ok or what do you guys use to torque your parts? 1/2" or 3/8" drive??

Thanks!

I know Brownells sells a 1/2 torque wrench mainly for barrel installation…but you may want to shoot gotM4 a PM as he is a certified armorer.

I use Snap-On torque wrenches, of the 1/4 drive inch pound, and 3/8 and 1/2 drive foot-pound variety. That said, many yahoos say to tighten it “this much”, and don’t use torque wrenches, I am just not one of them.

That would work fine. You can get Craftsman adapters to go from 1/2 to 3/8 and 3/8 to 1/2 (so you can do both sizes with 1 torque wrench). For foot lbs I have both a 1/2 and 3/8 torque wrench, I have the type that clicks when it reaches maximum torque. I use a 1/4 drive inch pound torque wrench (also clicking type).

Thanks guys!

A Craftsman beam-style 1/2" drive torque wrench is exactly what I use.

You really want to use a torque wrench. I know some people just say crank on the damn thing until it is tight don’t do that. If I remember right our technical order places barrel torgue at 35 lbs MIN and 85 lbs MAX. Make sure you use Moly-B on the threads or a similar product.
