what to do?

i have got a AR coming that has a 1/7 barrel.

i want to do some stocking up on ammo, for a SHTF resource.

i was thinking of getting 1000rds - 5.56 Prvi Partizan 55gr. M-193 FMJ Ammo, that wouldn’t be used for range but would be dedicated to be stored unless needed.

i am wondering though if the 55g ammo is going to be too light for my 1/7 barrel?.

thanks -

i’ve had ppl answer this yes, though i still use remington green box FMJ 55g for “training”, i have stored up M855 FMJ 62g myself

55 will perform OK.

The nice thing about a 1/7 barrel is that you can use 77 grn ammo!

i see now that i can get the same stuff but in 62gr, is that going to be enough weight to stabilize then?

PRVI M193 is not the same as their 62gr stuff. Their M193 is pretty close to a true M193 round. Their 62gr ammo is nothing like the M855.

Stick with the M193 ammo from PRVI.

thanks for the replies gentlemen!

I would personally just buy a few different boxes (brand, grain, etc.)and see how the rifle likes them. Then I would take into account cost versus performance and buy in bulk from there. It sure would suck to buy a lot and when the SHTF find out your rifle patterns like a shotgun with the ammo you put away.

55 grn works fine out of a 1/7 barrel.
