Im curious as to what states if any, have a full out ban on AR15 rifles. I thought of this as I was trying to determine why some AR manufactures put the LEO/GOV restricted stamp on their lowers.
As far as I know, the reason why that stamp is there is still because of the 1994 AWB. I’ve never thought that that stamp was used on any guns made after that ban expired in 2004, other than Colt 6920’s, who still have an AWB mindset in what they openly sell to civilians.
Couple of reasons:
-
Some manufacturers realized that people will pay a premium for this for the collectability, so they keep producing it long after the AWB. In the guise of .gov contract “over-runs”.
-
Full auto sales
-
LEO sales to CA, DC, and other restricted localities per locality request
-
Someone paid extra and requested it engraved on the lower.
Just like GSE offers a “Navy Seal” lower that has the “New Navy Seal” logo that is incorrect. If you make it, you can nearly put anything on it you desire.
