What other cultural queues do you recognize as grounds for acceptance?

Pinging off LLs thread related to our collective interest covering a multitude of “sins”; are there any other references or cultural interests that to you, exhibit the idea that you could potentially get along with someone? If so, how concrete do you perceive them to be?

In short, if I told you the following things about myself, what could you surmise assuming you had the desire to meet me in person? Only use what I have listed in this post, and not any preconceived notion you have arrived at from existing forum content. Feel free to ask for more info on a question…

  1. I have the significant memories associated with the song(s)
Kings of Leon - Taper Jean Girl
Rabbit in the Moon - OBE
Joy Division - Love will Tear us Apart

  2. Some of my favorite movies are:
    Road to Perdition
    Man on Fire
    The Notebook
    Rushmore

3)Last book I read (non-academic) was Mad Dog Killers: The Story of a Congo Mercenary

  1. Other forums I follow frequently are:
    [H]ardforum
    pistol-forum
    Bushcraftusa

  2. In a social-environment I stick with whom ever Im with, I dont try to meet new people / im slow to trust /make new friends.

  3. I exercise around 5 days a week, try to watch what I consume.

  4. Two blogs I follow are:
    OfTwoMinds
    SoldierSystems

  5. Some of my favorite bands / musicians are:
    Bonobo
    KOL (albums 1,2,3 only)
    Third Eye Blind

  6. I laugh frequently, I have a dry-sarcastic sense of humor.

  7. Im passionate about the Pro-Life topic.

  8. One of my favorite quotes is from Calvin Coolidge - “Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

  9. My biggest regret is not joining the military.

  10. My biggest success is my marriage.

  11. If money was no consideration- I would be philanthropic, generous, and on a personal level I would buy a large ranch where I would provide the means for my entire immediate family to have their own home on the land.

Can you profile me from that? Just curious…thanks for the time if you participate.

Assumptions can be hard work, especially with all that detail. I’d just have to meet you in person and decide what kind of asshole you actually are.

And then after having met you in person I can then start to apply the above indicators as evidence that you have been correctly categorized.

If you had 5 folks all answering the same questions and were only going to meet 3, is that information suitable or even remotely interesting enough to make your 3 choices? How much does cyberdata or a person’s non-biological inherited culture mean to you?

Favorite Movies:

The internet is forever. :jester::lol:

I was just about to post that.

Yea yea… I knew I would get a proper hazing. I had to pick something to make me seem more well rounded rather than 3 war films. Go ahead …ive been T’d before.

That was funny right there!

Maybe it’s me but I can’t judge someone on their “Likes”. I have friends with many different interists and values. Maybe I’m a simple guy (minded) but I can get along with just about anyone with half a brain.

All in good fun.

It’s got Jim Rockford in it! And he kicks ass!

Dude. I love Rocky Horror Picture Show, Chicago, and Moulin Rouge.

I also love Love Actually, that movie is hilarious.

I only give you shit, because I expect it back, man. :stuck_out_tongue:

I frequently use that Coolidge quote it’s a great motivator…

Sadmin, other than our choices in music and movies (holy shit dude, really? The Notebook?) I could’ve written that same thing about myself. Almost word for word.

-family is upper middle, owns chemical engineering company, no military

-was asked to write vows, said no. read standard vows
-i do try to speak up for the meek and try to have constant prospective checks, just because I cant empathize, i feel that doesnt mean I cannot understand.

well truth be told, the Notebook sort of corrupted the whole thing. Honestly, its not one of my favorites, as in I have seen it frequently or desire to watch it multiple times. I just tried to have a different genre other than what I do consider my favorite or will watch over and over. In turn though, I failed to provide a true representation of myself… I guess this is why sites like e-harmony dont ask crap like that. I always thought someones media tastes said a lot about them but I suppose you cannot derive that without many more examples.

I’m trying to figure out if this tops montanadave’s quote as sig worthy.

I think it does, as long as you answer it truthfully without regard for ridicule.

I wonder what percentage of M4C would feel that one through six DIDN’T represent them. Seems you could write that for any random participant here, and have a greater than 50% probability of being correct. The age postulate might be an exception.

If you don’t like all of the below, I don’t trust you. One hit is fine, two is doable, but not three.
