I mainly use my AR with irons, but i have a LaRue QD mount that i have been using with a crappy barska scope (which the front lense just popped out!), thankfully sportmans guide is giving a full refund 10 months after i bought it!
Honestly if i could get another scope like the barska 3-9x42 i wouldnt mind, but I want to know that it wont break. I was an indiot and bought the Famous Maker scope that looks just like the Barska thinking that it would be better built, got it today and it looks like it was previously returned, the locking things on the turrents have the writing lock and loosen written upside down, the reticule is very nice and its much brighter and clearer then the Barska, but the construction is exactly like the Barska so im returning it, every screw is the same shape, size, and location and im not risking it since aim provides no warranty.
Now my eye sight honestly sucks, i have a hard time seeing 2-3" orange stickers at 50 yards so i need magnification for the 100 yards i generally shoot at.
Now im used to 9x, and i want to both just plink at a 12" steel silhouette target, and i want to try to shoot for groups to test out handloads.
I have been looking at the Millett DMS-1, but im worried that 4x isnt enough.

-Decent Quality and Warranty
-A different style reticule such as Mil-Dot, or something unique like the Millett DMS, i hate the duplex and 30/30 reticules
-Magnification
-Prefer smaller scopes, this is a 16" AR.
-“Tactical style” turrents that don’t need coins or unscrewing of a cap to adjust, but this isnt mandatory.
I have been thinking that i might as well get the Millet TRS-1 and be done with it, it may be huge, but i have the QD mount which i only have the scope on at the shooting range.
