So, as some of you may know from a thread a while back I’ve been on a search for a replacement pouch for my DARK Angel IFAK. Given that there’s a stunning dearth of medical or GP pouches in this size and shape, I’m seriously thinking about de-contructing it, and putting the individual parts in a pouch of some sort- either a dedicated medical pouch, or a GP of the appropriate size- doesn’t really matter to me.
I’m also at some point going to either be picking up a secondary pre-made IFAK- most likely an ITS version- or buying the same items included in either of the two, and constructing my own.
In which case I would still need a pouch that can fit all that, especially as it won’t be compressed.
The reason I ask is that I would like to get some ideas on what folks are using to fit this much stuff, before I jump in. I’ve been looking at all sorts of Med and GP pouches for the last couple weeks from all sorts of companies. As it is, I’ve already got a pile of gear I don’t need in the EE and can’t get rid of to save my life, and I really dont have the budget at this point to just throw money at 6 different pouches to see which one works…
Parameter- something in a reasonable size, no more than 8" tall (the height of a 4-MOLLE-strip cumberbund), would prefer 2 MOLLE strips wide, but I could settle for 3-wide if it was the right pouch. Some internal organization would be nice, but not mandatory. Outside MOLLE strips would be nice- or at least some way to attach a TQ to the pouch exterior. I’ll just have to find some other way to stash shears, as I have seen only 1 or 2 pouches that have a space for them.
Ideas?

Esstac DST Blow Out is a tear away pouch. I carry a 6" ETD, Z-Fold Combat Gauze, Halo Chest seals, Mojo Dart, Black talon gloves and a couple other things. The CAT attaches to the outside of the pouch. All tears away nicely. Also 2x4 on molle…
What exactly was it that made you ditch the DARK? You’ve described, almost exactly, the standard DARK pouch. And why deconstruct it? The beauty of the DARK is that it’s compact, and gives you exactly what you need in a good-sized package. Opening it up and putting it in a larger pouch with a bunch of extra stuff sort of defeats two of its best features, size, and simplicity.
on my jump bag I use the esstac medrat. on my plate carrier I use the OSOE Tear off med pouch for all my bok stuff and a specter gear tear off for iv stuffs. I’ve toyed with just about all the micro pouches and found that, with my training/needs/wants, none of them did what I wanted. I’ll see if I still have all the pictures from when I ran UTGR, but it may take me a while. lots of back up discs to dig through. Try doing a search for my user name and it might bring up pictures.

What is an ETD? Like an IBD? I feel like I know this but it’s not ringing a bell…
What is the small pouch looking thing on the waist strap of the rig?
The Esstac pouch is definately interesting from the pictures I’ve seen.
Does it have a designated space for the shears, or are you just running them behind the Malice clips?
I have no issue with the overall concept of the DARK, and am not intending to ditch it or add much (if anything) to the contents- simple looking for a pouch that will fit the same sum of it or the ITS kit’s parts in un-vaccuum-packed/disassembled mode.

As I stated in the original post, there’s not really much of a selection of pouches out there that can fit the DARK kit as-is, plus if I buy my own med supplies seperately, I’d need a different pouch anyway- I use the contents of a DARK/ITS as a base level for a “cover most bases” basic IFAK.
I had mulled over just sticking it in a doublestack M4 magpouch, but am not all that keen on the idea for a couple reasons, aside from the previous sentence.
