I’ve seen them sell for around $450 and more. What makes them so valuable? Thanks
The ability to add a collapsible stock and a flash hider if you are in one of the half dozen dirty states that still have a state ban. I.E. Hawaii, District of Columbia, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, California, etc.
I have a feeling things are about to get worse. Better get some now if you want to have any…
Depends on where you live.
In some states, the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban that sunset in 2004 remained permanent. In order to legally have a rifle with “evil” features, it needs to be a pre-ban lower that was grandfathered under the law. Collapsible stocks, flash suppressors, threaded barrels, etc.
If you live in one of those places and don’t want to have a “neutered” rifle, then you have to have a pre-ban lower, and since those are in limited supply, they demand higher prices.
Nothing makes them attractive unless you are one of the damned who lives in a cursed AWB state.
Yes, damned to walk the cursed earth.
Preban lowers like older colt and eagle arms lowers are most suitable for being host guns for registered full auto sears.
I just spent some time out on the east coast, and I’ve got to say that I love the NE for its scenery. I feel bad that so many liberals migrated out there and ruined the land.
I can understand why those guys are willing to pay more for a lower, its the only chance they have to keep an AR15 in its honest configuration.
Here in Massachusetts, pre-ban lowers sell at a premium. The rule of thumb here is that they must have left the factory as complete rifles. The real winners here are the gun stores, who mark them up into the stratosphere. Preban Colt Sporters are going for $1800.00 or more - insane.
Still, I’m happy with my “post ban” build. Sure, I would love to have a bayonet lug, but I dislike collapsable stocks and the Sully is just sublime for my needs. I also have been blessed with folks in free-states helping me to find nearly 1,500 pre-ban USGI mags - many still in the wrapper. If I could find a similar amount of pre-ban receivers, I could end the shortage and get rid of the dealers so willing to gouge there brothers in arms…
Yeah, the Libs ruin everything they touch. But after O-Bomb wins, the feds will touch all of us.
Socialism!
Yippy!
Don’t cry for us just yet. It’s not so bad, and it’s a good lesson in the evils of government officials interfering in something they don’t understand.
Besides, this is a democracy. We get the government we deserve. We don’t deserve any better.
Ben
PS: BTW, it’s VERY illegal to sell “pre-ban” rifles in California.
No, this is not a democracy, it is a republic. While it is a democratic form of government there are some fundamental differences between a Republic and a Democracy
Yes, we are a democracy, not a Democracy, though the proposition process in many states is pretty close to direct democracy (with sometimes catastrophic results).
Regardless: if you don’t like what the government is doing, then there are plenty of avenues though which to get involved and do something about it.
Ben
“Us”?
I am us! I live behind the lines too. I love it and don’t want to leave. Besides, if I leave, I’m leaving. Gonna go overseas if I have to.
Well, then, don’t cry for yourself…
Adjust: Find the loopholes (in CA there are plenty), learn to work the bureaucracy (not hard), and get involved.
Of the people, by the people, for the people, remember?
Ben
Not true for CA. With the sunset of the AWB, if you have a registered assault weapon, you can do whatever you want to it now.
Rich
i live in commifornia and have a pre ban. there sellin like wild fire here.
How does that work?!
If they’re pre-ban, then they’re on the “ban list,” right?
And if they’re on the ban list, even if they’re registered AWs, then they can’t be transferred, right?
Explain this one to me,
Ben
