Is the safety plug tied to the brace?
A side folding mechanism that incorporates one of the block the trigger from behind safeties in to the strut so that the safety gets pulled as the stock/brace is pulled open could be handy.

No it was tied to the magpul angle fore grip, because I was thinking about pushing it out with my trigger finger,
But your idea of attaching it to the brace and letting the brace opening pull the plug out is a great idea. I will try it in the morning
I tried it and the plug is either right handed or left handed, so my right hand plug will not fit behind the trigger from the opposite side.
I think your idea is a better mouse trap, for those that might want to build a shoulder fired system for one of their pistols.
You have a good idea in using one. Kinda surprised there hasn’t been a mention of someone popping a round off in a bag or vehicle yet.
I had mostly forgot about them(they got semi hot for a year or so a long time ago) and couldn’t recall if they are ambi or not.
I always have empty chambers with truck/backpack/glove box firearms. I think most people know this and thats why we never hear of it.
I was training with it, removing it from the bag, opening the brace and then racking the slide, I wasn’t happy with the whole process. So I thought of the plug, because carrying a round in a Glock with nothing covering or blocking the trigger, to me is just stupid and asking for a tragic accident.
The plug I bought fits very tight behind the trigger guard.
I grab the pistol grip in my right hand and remove it from the bag, as my left hand opens the brace, my trigger finger is pushing the plug out. It all goes smooth, with the JB plug added the plug is ejected with much more force that it was in it’s stock form.
I am not 100% happy with the recovery tactical, it would be better if it was made out of aluminum but then I look at the aluminum bodies and they cost 4 times the price.
As always mission should drive what we do. The mission for this gun, is to have a more powerful gun than the MP5k (357sig V 9mm), to have a gun lighter than the MP5k, When it comes to shooting I am thinking inside a kosher grocery store which has aisles like any regular store and/or inside a synagogue which can come in many different sizes just like churches.
Since I live in a Jewish neighborhood, and with the threat level raised due to the war if I am just running around and not going into anything Jewish I take my body armor and a 11.5 inch AR, so I can respond to a potential incident. I am friends with the Sargent that works day shift here and he knows my background, so if something happens he said he would be happy if I showed up until the brass gets there and SWAT.
My AR or MP5k always when in the bag are empty chambers. I think of it like the shotgun that used to sit in my police car in the USA, it was empty chamber with a pulled trigger so all I would have to do was rack it, the AR that sat next to it was also empty chamber.
In Israel our rifles day in and day out were empty chambers, remember our rifles are carried with us even off duty, in the bank, grocery store and even our kids schools.
Some government places had storage for guns and others didn’t. I had invested in the company owned by my brother and sister in laws and the F#!ks didn’t pay the value added tax . So since I was an owner I got a summons to the tax authorities. I showed up with a colt commando and a Hi Power, and the security told me I couldn’t bring them into the building. I called the investigator and asked him to come to the entrance lobby, after a short argument he relented and did come to the lobby.
I showed him my magic card which had only my photo on it with no name or rank, but it said I was authorized to carry unusual weapons and clothing. I then pulled out my paper work issuing the rifle and Hi power to me. I will not get into what made the paperwork special for security reasons. But it was the highest level you could be issued. Meaning I could carry guns around the Prime Minister etc.
So we went to his office and he was cool he told me, we know you work for the government and we know how much money you make. I also know you are not responsible for the theft of the tax, so he was going to recommend no criminal charges against me since a conviction would mean being fired from my job and he also wasn’t going to go after the money in my savings account.
His boss filed criminal charges against me, and I was convicted of a felony in court. The conviction was stayed pending appeal so that I could keep working. The appeals court didn’t rule on my case but said it had enough irregularities in it that the original judge should get the case back for reexamination. In the end it was a 3 ring circus, with the judge and the prosecuting in one ring, my attorney and me in an other ring and then in the end the Attorney General . The goal was to find an outcome that would allow me to keep working. Which was found in the end and I kept working no longer in danger of becoming a felon.
I keep rifles/shotguns not on me chamber empty.
I used to do that with pistols until I found out about Safariland ALS and more often than not I will leave the pistol hot in the holster since the trigger is protected and tripping the ALS will effectively eject* the holster off the pistol.
To me, Yoni’s idea of using the plug gets the security and ease of use angles and applies it to a pseudo carbine setup.
*The ejecting the holster idea was something I recall seeing on a recommended gear on Paul Howes page regarding a brand of AIWB holster that had a shirt/body shield that facilitated thumbing the holster off the pistol in a hurry when stowing it in a night stand. Seemed like a good idea and I just noticed an ALS would do it also.
I love the 6378’s, i have bout a dozen of them, They are great for rough outdoor activates. I have one that slide across pavement while it was on my hip. The pistol never fell out. I tried to get one to go off inside a backpack with all kinds of fishing gear (empty primed case). never got it to off. The weaponlight ones seem to have more access to the trigger guard tho.
I have noticed that too, especially the ones that will accept an X300 size light.
yep. I tried the newer style for the tlr-7, the safariland 7378, its horrible, highly recommend against that one. I never had an issue with X300 light holsters, but makes me cautious with it. I dont know if you go on amazon, but the amazon had some for the 19 for 8 dollars. Brand new 6378’s in black, i bought 2 for the hell of it.
@YoniMagav can you post a link to the aluminum safety plug you got?
I actually like the 7xxx 7ts series better than the 6xxx series, but that is a steal.
they felt too cheap for me, and they are the same price. the felt is a nice touch. But i can see the appeal of the 73 series. no felt to hold moister.
That may indicate they are very honest/ethical if my guess they didn’t have access to a 1 or 2 to verify fit is correct.
