I am just curious to what every one uses for oil. Also the only thing that is readily available around here is Break Free/CLP or Formula 3. Went into the popular shop in the area and I asked for Slip 2000 and the guy looked at me like I have 6 heads.
Weapons Shield, Militec, Machine Gunners Lube, Slip2000…in that order (right now).
Machine Gunners Lube.

Breakfree/CLP, is the lube for Me.![]()
+1.
And also a little bit of XF-7 grease on the bolt lugs, cam pin and inside the receiver extension.
Since you didn’t have Mobil 1, I’ll have to go with Slip2000.
I was a Breakfree CLP guy but have become a Weapon Shield convert.
Machine gunners lube over a thin film of MD XF-7 grease. With all the talk about the “bad Things” like teflon in all the CLP’s I wanted to get awayf from them. My understanding is that Machine Gunners Lube and XF-7 both are Teflon free. The XF-7 provides a base that doesn’t allow carbon to stick, and the Machne Gunners lube is some of the “Slipperiest” stuff I have ever felt.
Cleaning is a breeze with this combo. Either one alone is not nearly as good as the combo, and I’ve tried both alone.
Army guy here, Breakfree/CLP and Miltech
I like the weapons shield and plan on ordering more. I love that cinnamon smell.
Mobil 5w30/lithium grease/wd40
I’m using Weapon Shield, Slip, and Militec currently, although I really prefer the Slip and Weapon Shield. I haven’t used either enough to pick one over them other, but since you only had Slip listed that’s what I picked.

What ever I can get for free… right now it’s Weapons Shield, Machine gunners lube and Slip 2000… and when those all run out… I’ll beg for some more free stuff…![]()
I get Breakfree at work for free. However, I just ordered two 4 oz bottles of EWL from Slip 2000. I have never had a problem with the Breakfree but I just wanted to try something different.
Whatever is at hand. I keep everything wet, so after shooting (100-200rnds) I wipe down and re lube. I dont apply lube and let it sit for long periods, as my guns get shot often. I would LOVE to try some slip though…
M-Pro CLP. Available through Brownells.
I prefer FP10 on the rotating parts (bolt) and Rig+P grease on the load bearing/sliding parts (cam pin, pistol slides, ect.).
Also have some Weapon Shield, but I fail to have seen how it betters the FP10/CLP combo.
I’m using Break Free right now because it works so far and it’s all I have right now.
Militec and TW25 for pistols.
Grease for heavy rifles.
I have about a 10 year supply from samples and winnings. I’ll use just about anything that is free except Remoil. I’d through that crap in the bin or feed it to the neighbor’s cat.
Rob S had put Militec on mine when he did some things for me and that worked well. The next time I cleaned and lubed I put the Weapons Shield from the sample I got on, and I’m happy with it, too. I’m gonna get more of that. I too love that cinnamon smell, although that’s not why I’m gonna buy more.
