What light and mount combinations are popular now?

My two cents, X300u’s are $190 at IWC and fills the role nicely. If that’s over budget a G2x tac with IWC mount runs $120 or $110 if your Leo on there site. I also run gear sector mounts and they’ve taken a beating, highly recommended and reasonably priced. Good luck.

I have that Midwest FSB rail on an upper with CAR hand guards and had a Polytac mounted to it with a GG&G mount. When I get an upgraded light for my new upper it will go back. It put the light in a pretty good place and it could be used from either side with ease. If you go that route and don’t use gloves, just watch out for the hand guard cap.

Unless your setup precludes using one, I think a Viking Tactics polymer mount for $20-something is hard to beat. I’ve been running one (with an LED G2) for quite a while and haven’t had any problems.

If I wasn’t using that setup, I’d probably be using an IWC mount of some flavor or an X300/TLR-1 on a MI FSB base (for my guns with FSB).

Bumping this one to the top to get some more suggestions.

I’m finding out that VLTOR doesn’t make the mount I originally used, and I can’t get a definitive answer as to what lights the VLTOR SM-G fit.

I had a 6P mounted in an Elzetta FSP mount for a while. It held up but I did not beat it to hell. I thought about the G2 option to get some increased output and keep cost down, but I did some reconfiguring and mounted a X300U that I already had with a magpul illumination kit. This setup works, but it’s still not ideal for me. My preferred support hand placement is at about the FSP and the light is not quite forward enough.

I really wish I would have thought about light location/operation ahead of time.
