Without a DD license? In other words if you bought one of those M203 clones and wanted to stay legal what can you shoot out of it?
I would guess smoke is kosher. What about tear gas?

I did some Google digging and the “line” is wood, rubber, or steel projectiles, or obviously anything that explodes with anti-personnel effects (like HE). I would assume that tear gas would be okay, but that’s why I’m asking here.
I’ve read where there is a distinction between CS and CN tear gas. Not sure if that has any impact on it’s legality without NFA paperwork or not.
I thought it was flares and smoke/chalk rounds, end of list. I would assume tear gas falls into the “smoke” category as it’s not a controlled item.
I may be wrong however. Wouldn’t be the first time.
