Not a dedicated precision rifle. Not an SBR. Something in between? Can a standard M4-style setup really take advantage of 6x magnification? Maybe an intermediate caliber like 6.8, or a 16" .308 rifle? Maybe the Desert Tech MDR or the KAC SR-25 ACC?
Really, to me, it looks like an optic that is looking for a problem to solve. 80% of people would be fine with a red dot. 3 gunners would be over it like white on rice, and maybe some SWAT guys, but beyond that :?
Anyone carrying an ACOG without using in-line electro-optics will be more capable with the 1x/D-EVO combo.
I personally prefer the CQBSS or for Dual-Role Carbine stuff, as it gives me enough reference points to push to the edge of effectiveness, and works with in-line thermals and Image Intensifiers.
I would be most likely to use the D-EVO on a 14.5-18" 5.56.
I don’t make a living shooting people anymore, but I would be willing to take the system down-range for a trial.
I would most likely use the combo for 2-gun, 3-gun, and pig shooting. I believe these to be the applications and rifles where the system is of greatest advantage.
I will have one on my SBR. Even if you don’t use the 6x to aim, target ID is so much faster and easier it feels like cheating. I’d use one even if it didn’t have a reticle for that functionality alone. Then again, if you never shoot beyond 50 yards and never have a target trying to hide in the shadows then maybe you won’t benefit from it.
Nimdabew, next time you have the opportunity, try to aim at something under a thick canopy of trees in low light with your red dot. Even when you turn the brightness down it can’t compare to what you can see with a scope. You probably know all this already, it just stands out with this system since the comparison is immediate.
I need to handle a D-Evo once my local shop gets one in. If I like it then it will be paired with a T1 on my 16" general purpose 556 carbine.
It will be used for pig hunting, in a local class that teaches mid-range shooting skills, and 3-gun if I ever get into that. I’ve been looking at 1-6 scopes but like the ideas of the D-Evo a lot.

I do do a fair amount of shooting in heavy underbrush (PNW) but haven’t had target ID problems. Then again, i don’t hunt 2 legged preds so until a problem presents itself for that app, I don’t need it. I am not basing anyone that does want it, but for the money… ehh. I would rather buy a snub nose, 3k rounds of .38spl, and go practice shooting from deep concealment.
I considered one on the Scar 17 for pig hunting but in the end I put an Elcan on it instead.
Which Elcan, and if you don’t mind telling us, how much did it set you back? I’ve never owned one but understand they are pricey.
I am in the process of building a 13’’ barrel FAL with permanently attached Stoll flash hider. I am considering the D-EVO with a RMR for it. The rifle will be a truck gun, hog and coyote hunting. Of course if I buy one I would try it on several rifles. There was one on gun broker for just over $1100, no reserve. I am going to be watching the prices I am interested in trying this optic.
