A friend of mine found this at a Cabela’s near him. It looks like a Hakim rifle with an MG-13 magazine, and the barrel/jacket/bipod assembly of an MG-34. I did some preliminary Google searches, but couldn’t find anything about this. He says it doesn’t look like a Bubba job, but who knows?
Has anyone ever seen such a thing before?
That’s exactly what it is. I’ve seen some Hakims with MG-13 mags before, but never one taken to such an extent.

Bi-pod isn’t standard MG-34, looks like someone had a lot of random parts lying around and time on their hands… what’s it weigh? 20lbs?
Maybe a 1919A6 bipod?
I’m just curious how it functions. Is it just an MG-34 barrel shroud over the Hakim barrel and gas system? Or did they somehow tap an MG-34 barrel to work with the Hakim gas system? Or did they somehow convert the whole thing to recoil operation?
My buddy ended up buying the silly thing, I’ll have to ask him to take it apart and show some photos.
Holy crapping christ, he bought it?!? Well at least we can get to the bottom of it, I have to admit I’m intrigued…
He’s supposed to be sending me some photos of the gun after disassembly.
Apparently it’s a Hakim barrel and gas system under an MG-34 shroud, with the Hakim muzzle turned down to fit into some kind of barrel extension going into the muzzle nut of the MG shroud.
Seeing as it’s Cabellas, I’m amazed that they didn’t cook up a BS story to go along with the rifle, along the lines of
“They’re usin this here gun in Eye Rack, yes suh”
“The Nazzis used this gun in Dubya Dubya two”
