What is considered "out of spec" front sight adjustment

Hello everyone, I have a colt 6720 (flat top with non-F marked FSB) I love this thing its so light and its shooting a group all shots touching at the 25 meter zero with the MBUIS. Required no windage adjustment. The only problem was the stock front sight post had to be cranked up to the point where you could see a sliver of light between the post flange and the FSB shelf. I didn’t like the post flange was above the shelf so I called Colt and they sent me a taller sight. The flange of the taller post no longer is above the FSB shelf and the tip of the taller post is about 1/16 below the front sight ears. It still took about 5 clicks of unscrewing the taller front sight to get it to zero. For some reason this still bothering me. Is this as good as its gonna get? Or is this an OCD issue lol. This is with the MAGPUL MBUIS back up sight stock from Colt.

So you’re 5 clicks up from Flush/Mechanical zero to get zeroed? I’d say that’s pretty good.

Yup about 5 clicks up from Mechanical Zero with the taller front sight. Thanks for the response.

Yeah. I’d be good with that. You could also try another rear sight just for the hell of it… or a carry handle if you have one.

Maybe ive just never paid any attention to exactly WHERE my front post is when zero’d as long as it zero’s without falling out of the FSB. I think my DDM4 is more than 5 clicks up with a Magpul MBUS and its been going strong for 6 years and thousands upon thousands of rounds.

I had a bushmaster with a non F marked post and I had to do the same thing. But it worked fine with the detachable carry handle it came with.

5 clicks is excellent. For anything that is tool adjustment on BUIS, as long as it zeroes you’re set. For something that makes hand adjustments (windage, elevation) as long as you can can compensate for weather/range conditions with the rest of the adjustment range, you’re golden (pretty much anything but cuddling with a mechanical limitation).
