What is a good website to buy 7.62 x 39mm uppers??

Im looking to purchase a 7.62x39 upper and was wondering if any of you know any good websites that you can steer me to…Thanks

I recently assembled a 7.62x39 upper for a co-worker. He used a midlength ARmaLite barrel and a modified BCM upper receiver and bolt carrier.
Drew at WAR Rifles did the necessary machining mods to the bolt carrier and upper receiver.
My co-workers lower he’s using with this upper is one of those neat MGI lowers which accept steel AK mags.

Can you go into more detail as to what is required in order to build a reliable 7.62x39 AR? I know the bolt face needs to be turned to accommodate the larger diameter cartridge. What else?

Thanks.

The biggest problem with standard ARs in 7.62x39 was reliable mags. The MGI lower kit accepts the super reliable AK magazines. Because of the size/dimensions of the mags vs. AR pattern mags mods are required to make the bolt carrier and upper receiver work with the AK mags.

Good stuff on MGI’s site. Thanks for the tip.

I tried to look at the MGI site tonight…

I really want a 7.62x39 AR-15, simply because everything else I shoot is 7.62x39 and I don’t want to go to a new caliber just for a new gun…

So… I don’t want to play “will I get a decent mag from ASC roulette” so I’m starting to look into the MGI lower with the AK magwell…

I went to the site tonight and the store was down… Anyone know what this combo runs?

I bought a Model 1 Sales barrel and a MGI bolt. Everything else is standard run of the mill Ar from multiple vendors.

I use the hard to find USA Franken mags and while it may not be brand name or Tier whatever, it goes bang everytime I shoot it and I use a lot of steel case ammo with zero problems. I did have to tinker with one USA mag to get it to feed properly and I plan to replace all the springs with Wolf extra power AK mag springs int he future just because.

I ordered a couple CProducts 30 round mags but have yet to try them. I’m going to cut one to 20 rds and see why CProducts says it can’t be done. All my USA mags are 20rders and work flawlessly.
