I am going hunting for a rifle case this weekend anybody have any opinions on which one to buy. I was looking at the foam cutout cases but they are very exspensive. I need one that has the height for the rifle with my AIMPOINT and mag installed.
For hard cases I like Pelican and Storm cases. For soft cases I like Eagle.
I too like Storm cases for hardside and Eagle for soft side.
You need one that has a pocket for your H2 buffer.
I’ve got one of THESE and while I love it, it’s just too big for trips to the range, etc. It’s the perfect bag, however, to take to a shooting school.

I have that bag (M4 Sigma). It’s definitely a travel bag that holds a rifle, not a rifle case. Great at what it does though.

For a basic soft case for 16" AR-15, I use Eagle 3223 cases.

If you want to go really discreet, the Cavalry Arms Discreet Rifle Bag is tough to beat, but a bit expensive. It is extremely well made, so you get what you pay for. Pictured with a Mini-Sneaky Bag. I apologize for the crummy iPhone pics.
There’s not much discreet about the “discreet” cases.
An AR with a 14.5" barrel and collapsed stock fits nicely in a 30" guitar case… They go for $10 or so on eBay.
