I have what I think is a novel idea for a full auto simulator that should meet ATF muster. I don’t want to waste my time if it has already been done. On the other hand I don’t want to SAY what my idea is (LOL). Can you help me figure out what there are out there approved and otherwise?

Bumpfire is the only one I have seen.
There are a couple of two round burst simulator triggers on YouTube that fire one round when you pull the trigger and another when you release it.

ETA: I’m surprised a manufacture hasn’t created a paintball style trigger mechanism. You can “walk” a paintball gun at 15 bps pretty easily.

The above sounds contradictory to me.
So, is it legal or not?
Plus, what would you do with one, besides costing a fortune in ammo?

My first thought is that they approval, but you should check local regulations…but that wouldn’t be ATF so who knows what they mean?

There is that newer trigger that uses the carrier to force reset. In the demo i got the guy had it going pretty good but all i got was trigger slapping my finger. No thanks.
Regarding the fake burst trigger, they claimed it was legal because each action of the trigger only fired one shot. So they claimed pulling was one action and releasing was another.
I don’t own one, I just watched the video. I don’t know any more than that.

Somebody already did. The prototype was literally a spyder board because you could see the LEDs on the back of the grip. Supposedly it has a mechanical component to it as well, so even if the electronics malfunction, it can’t fire unless the trigger is also pulled. Either way, huuuuuge liability.
Interesting, I’ll have to check that out. I imagine that even without the electronics, and super short/light trigger pull, magnetic assist reset, and a double trigger would yield interesting results. It would be highly impractical for anything other then range time wasting of ammo IMHO. I can’t imagine it would be at all controllable with any caliber with significant recoil.
There’s that Tac-Con Trigger that actually has a 3rd selector position for “positive reset” or something. I heard it wasn’t anywhere nearly as good as the videos, as in it took some training/practice to use at speeds approaching full auto.

Yes I did!! My point is that we don’t need any more gimmick triggers.

I’m all about not stifling nor discouraging innovation.
I’m sure people said the same thing before Geissele made his first trigger too.
