What exactly is wrong with ARMS mounts?

I have an Aimpoint ML2 in an ARMS mount on my LMT carbine. I began using ARMS mounts 8-10 years ago, I don’t think Larue or ADM were even in business then, if they were I had never heard of them. I have been using my current Aimpoint/ARMS setup for about four years now but have been looking to upgrade to a LT or ADM when funds become available. Thanks to M4C I’ve been “educated”

My question is, what exaclty are the problems with ARMS mounts?

Well, what have you done with your ARMS mount during those four years? Military, LEO, or range?

My point being that they have been known to break and loose zero when used and abused. Most civilians don’t subject their weapons to the same abuse that you see in those who use them professionally.

If you mount has been working well for you and your level of abuse, then don’t sweat it.

covered in this thread:

Long story short- they are non-adjustable so they might come to you too loose, too tight, or acceptable. They also stretch so a once acceptable lever will become loose with repeated use. They also broke more than was (is) average, though this may be due to the simple fact that when they were in heavy use with the military and tactical police teams, they were in use with the military and tactical police teams, therefore got the living shit beat out of them frequently.

There are better options in QD mounts for the same cost these days.

My limited, civilian experience with ARMS mounts has been pure suckage. Loosey-goosey.

With funds being so limited I’ve not gotten a lot of trigger time in the past couple of years, I should have mentioned this in my first post. Most of my shooting has been range with some hunting thrown in. Since this is my HD, go to, carbine I want to keep it as durable/dependable as possible.

F2S,
Thanks for the link. The mount has been good to me so far but I do have plans to replace it with either a LT or ADM, again funds will determine when but I would guess somewhere between the holidays and this next spring. Thanks for the replies.
