Ok here I go again. I’m trying to figure out what kind of upper I have. I bought it used with A1 fore grips. The only marks on the upper assembly is on the right side of the upper on the carry handle by the rear sight. The other mark is on the barrel under the front sight. They both look like something off of Predator. You guys know everything. I did a search and found the thread on the markings on the bolt carrier. Thats about it. So here are some pictures. I hope some one can get this.[/IMG]
I believe the mark on the upper indicates Cardinal Forge. Not sure on the barrel markings. But I’m sure someone much more knowledgable than myself will be along shortly to tell you more than you ever wanted to know.
Definately a Cardinal forging (unknown who’s upper) and the barrel I’ve never seen like that before. I’m guessing it’s a colt or US military contractor like Marietta or something…I’m just guessing.
Is there somewhere I should look? I’ve torn apart my upper and can’t find sh*t for marks that may tell me what I have. Is it common to not have identifying marks on upper receivers?
The barrel is a Colt circa 1965-66. The M stands for Magnetic particle, and the triangle is the old Colt VP proof mark meaning Verified Proof. These barrels were 1/12 and have no chrome in the chamber or bore. The barrel also appears to be refinished.
