Just ordered mrp piston upper for my second ar. Which buffer do other lmt gp owners reccomend? To appease the piston haters let me clarify I already have a quality bcm 14.5 middy DI upper and am very happy with it.
It’s late. I really do know how to spell recommend.
I have the 16" MRP piston upper. It will come with a H2 buffer along with torque wrench and 3 rail covers. After 1k round, only one of ammo out of the 10+ kind I tried gave me some problems, everything else worked flawlessly. I bought a ST-T2 when ordering from bcm later on and it worked nicely too.
I have a 16" MRP piston with an H2 and a Springco blue spring, I ran it through a Magpul class, 2,000 rounds. That was shooting WWB .223, all I did was lube it every night and I had zero malfunctions. It’s not broke, so I haven’t fixed it. Having said that, it is heavy, 9 pounds 14 ounces with a TR24 in a LaRue mount, so it does spend a lot of time in the safe compared to my other ARs that weigh in at 7-8 pounds.
I always ran an H2 in my POF. I’d also recommend a Dave Tubb’s SSS flatwire coil spring, too, to soften the ride.
Very good. I wasn’t aware an upper would come with a buffer.
I would think a buffer would come with a complete lower. ![]()
Don’t worry about appeasing the piston haters. It’s your rifle. Not theirs. If it does what you want it to do, then just enjoy it.
I have an LMT CQB MRP piston 16" upper and use the stock buffer and it cycles reliably. Never thought of changing it since the recoil doesn’t bother me.
LMT installs H-buffers in there fully assembled rifles I would start there.
FWIW, my brand new LMT CQBPS16 has an H2 installed from the factory.
I misspoke when I posted last night so I apologize. I have the complete rifle, not the upper. The complete rifle (16" LMT MRP CQB) came with the H2 buffer.
Hope this helps.
Well if the mrp cqb pistons come with H-2 then I retract my statement and would suggest that the H-2 be a good starting point.
If it is a new complete upper…it will come with an H2 buffer and torque wrench, rail covers. I bought the complete piston upper also.
Your complete upper will include an H2 buffer.
Sweet. One less thing to put on shopping list.
Mine came with H2 in a new 16" piston MRP.
