I am curious what paper targets people like to use at the range for the ARs out to 100 yards and 300 yards?
Are most of you just shooting at the NRA rifle bullseye targets or using something else?
I like six inch paper plates. They work well for pistol and rifle, are cheap, easy to find, easy to carry, available in multiple colors and work well up close or out at distance.
Same - paper plates and 3x5 notecards. If I’m going to use a real target though, I like F2S version, I will post the link when I’m back at a PC

Another 1 for paper plates, index cards work well too…Also like the aerosol glue spray for easy quick target change.
I have a cut out/stencil of a inverted triangle (ocular/nasal cavity), below that is a five inch cube (heart), below that is a five by twelve rectangle (pelvic girdle). I can overlay this over our “Tom Ridge” target, creating smaller scoring boxes/points of aim. I can also lay it over a plain TQ-15 for the same effect. Other than using that, I really like using index cards and paper plates, which like the stencil, can be placed over out TR’s or TQ-15’s. Index cards and plates are easy to mix up on a plain cardboard backer for a wide variety of drills, just use your imagination.
I use the 50 meter zero and have long ago downloaded the targets off the internet and print as needed.

I’ve been a fan of the Trident Concepts targets that Jeff Gonzales uses. The latest version is two-sided. We clothes-pin them to plastic corrugated backer boards. Otherwise we just print out whatever our needs are from http://targetz.com using a laser printer and 65 lb card stock, or we make up our own in Photoshop.
Why are you shooting at the paper and with what sighting device?
I use different targets to “sight-in and confirm zeros” and different targets to do this with irons, RDS or optics. I use a 50/200 zero and use a black circular target slightly smaller than my front post for irons and a black circle slightly larger than my red dot and a standard orange and white rifle target designed for optics with crosshairs for my magnified optics.
For training I use IDPA targets, cranio-ocular targets, Osama targets, 3x5 cards and colored geometric shapes with #s targets, and my favorite the 8.5x11 printer paper with marksalot on it stapled to an IDPA target. And when someone else wants to pay for them Shoot-n-see targets are nice for short range sessions just to check that your confirmed zero is still where it is supposed to be.
Paper plates, 3x5 cards, triangle and circle stencil. I also get large cardboard sheets from my local supermarket (free) and cut out my own IDPA targets.

At distance I usually shoot steel (when I’m shooting drills.) If I’m shooting for “groups” I typically shoot paper plates for the reasons already stated. I also get a bunch of cardboard from work that is perfect silhouette size, I just cut out a head… basically a little smaller than an IPSC without arms (I don’t like how wide IPSCs are- if your gonna score an arm hit why not put some legs on it too?)
I use my custom sils a lot of stuff.

Midway sells paper IDPA targets for about 30 cents each, which is a pretty good price compared to most of the other full size humanoid-shaped targets out there.
