I was holding off on buying the FN because the ACR “might” be cheaper.
Looks like that won’t be the case, in fact it seems the ACR might actually cost more.
So what are the side by side differences between the two rifle?
SCAR:
-Loosely based off the FNC.
-Performed about 4x more reliable than the M4 in military tests, 416 was roughly as reliable.
-Overpriced.
ACR:
-Loosely based off the G36/XM8.
-XM8 was twice as reliable than the SCAR or 416.
-Way Overpriced.
Between the two? SCAR. No telling what evil bushmaster/remington have been up to besides the price.

Common street price has come way down on the SCAR.
The SCAR is absolutely multicaliber, 6.8 or 7.62x39mm, if there’s a market for it. They’ve built a 6.8mm, it’s not a big deal, but the military wasn’t interested.
The gas system on the SCAR is based of off the F2000, which is based on the M1 Carbine. Short tappet system that works exceedingly well, and is extremely clean and cool running.

The biggest difference between them is that one is a “civilian version” of a “military rife”, while the other is a “military-wanna-be”, “civilian rifle”.
ACR has the following over SCAR:
true toolless barrel change
ambi bolt catch/release from trigger guard (SCAR still uses AR15 style bolt release)
non reciprocating charging handle
forward charging handle, so it doesnt interfere with optic mounts
better polymer (i doubt FNs can beat magpuls)
swappable trigger packs using standard AR15/M16 trigger groups
stiill uses AR15/M16 barrels
SCAR has over the ACR:
been test in SOCOM
available and equivalent model seems less expensive than Enhanced ACR
stated weight is less? Remmy still shows ACR as 7lbs but Bushy 8.2???
Both guns are really similar. I think the ACR is better on paper ergonomics wise and all the little things.
You see what you want to see. For some strange reason, many XCR shooters tend to think its biased toward the ACR. Go figure :rolleyes:

SCAR= Available,current pricing $700 cheaper than the suggested MSRP of the ACR,probably the most thoroughly tested military weapon ever adopted, has killed people in combat, is made by a company with a solid track record of developing military weapons,and in my experience is the most accurate 5.56 caliber carbine i have ever ran. Also doesnt have a video with Hitler talking shit about it last i checked;).
ACR,not available, insanely overpriced, 1/9 barrel twist not compatible with modern combat ammuntion (MK262), Is built by a company with poor quality control, who is running them?
Im the furthest thing from a fanboy but from where i stand as a SCAR owner i have been very satisfied with my carbine. I was looking forward to grabbing and running a ACR but bushmaster fucked that thing up like polio. Its the modern equivelent of the Mini-14.
I handled all three today, each had their pros and cons. After looking over each I’m going to build the VLTOR VIS/Noveski build I had planned.
