What are the best Dump Pouchs?

I would like to know who makes the best Dump Pouchs? I did a search and came up with nothing.

With limited space, the MM’s are great, on a budget and limited space the 5.11/VTACs will get the job done.
With unlimited space, something like the EAG, or the TAG/Eagle style will work very well, DBT’s SSE bag works well (though it lived in our SSE kit), design seemed sound. I’d say EAG might be worth trying, the feature set answers the issues I’ve had with my various pouches.

I’m a fan of the Emdom Dumper.
It sits tight to the user, retains well, and doesn’t take up excessive space on my belt. It lacks the ability to be rolled and stowed, but I have no complaints about it being deployed and just sitting on it.

Having never used one for magazines…what is the technique? When changing magazines, do you drop the old one in the pouch?

I’ve seen a lot of guys training with them on but never seen one actually used.

I use it for pretty much anything that doesn’t have bullets in it.
When they first hit the scene they were used for SSE, chemlights, and breaching charges, with magazine retention a distant third. At least that was my experience.
It seemed that as more time got spent on the range the more the job of the “dumper” turned to magazine retention, and the larger and more rigid they became. Suddenly it became necessary for the dumper to hold an entire load-out of mags, when really it would be pretty rare for three or four mags to actually wind up in the pouch.

Anyway- for non-admin use I use the pouch to hold empty magazines I retrieved from the ground, or other items as I laid out above. I prefer not to put partially filled magazines in the dump, as after a tac reload, because I want those bullets available for a reload.

As TehLlama alluded to, I’ve become a huge fan of the EAG/Crye dump pouch. As others have said, it is a well thought out design that addresses a lot of the limitations of most dump pouches. There’s nothing more I can really say about it than what isn’t already in the following review (from Lightfighter)

Again, my uses for it are on the “tactical” side of things, run on a war belt and such.

I really like the dump pouch that Pat Rogers, EAG Tactical, sells at his classes. There was an article written about it in one of the last issues SWAT magazine.

If you reference my post above, JFreuler and I are referring to the same dump pouch. I posted a link to a Lightfighter review of the Crye manufactured/EAG tactical dump pouch, and there should be pictures and video to go along with it.

If you’re interested in purchasing the pouch, you can either go to one of Pat Roger’s courses and buy it there, or contact them (as, last time I looked, they do not list the product on their website), and they will let you know what they have in stock. (Last time I checked, it was just Multicam they had, but that was about 2 months ago). Hope that helps!

I have found over the years that Dump Pouches are a matter of preference. I started out way back when, when we still wore BDU’s, with a HSGI drop down promask that doubled as a dumper, then bought one of Eagle’s evidence pouches. A few years later I picked up the CSM version, then a Eggroll and TAG version. The TAG one is somewhere in Afghan riding on someone belt. My CSM is on my vest. The Eggroll is in a box along with the Eagle. My most recent one is the BFG version which rides on my SOC-C belt. All have their pros and cons. When I used the HSGI, at the time it was more for SSE, breaching charges ,etc than mags. Then I wanted something more compact and getting it off of my legs for humping hills. All the ones mentioned have deployed on a vest or belt and have/still do hold up well over several years of use . My CSM is still my favorite after all these years. I cant quantify why. All the pouches mentioned are great quality. The Eagle and Eggroll will be going back in service soon, on a couple of my officers vests. My initial thoughts on the BFG are nice, compact, little to snag on when closed. Im gonna pick up one of the Rogers version to try out just for S&G’s. My thing is that as long as you get quaility, you should be okay.
