what AR builders are using Fail-Zero parts (or Nickel-Boron coatings) in their rifles

Hi all,

I’m curious what rifle builders are using Fail-Zero parts (or Nickel-Boron coatings) in their AR builds these days. How are they working out? So far, I’ve only seen Jim Fuller of Rifle Dynamics using them. He uses both Fail-Zero parts, or coats existing parts in Nickel-Boron (AK’s too).

The Nickel-Boron coatings seem to be a reliable way to reduce cleaning time and keep a rifle running longer between cleanings. It’s also been reported that no lubrication is needed.

What has your experience been with this? Thanks for your time.

Chris

wonder if its the same stuff as the Ionbond BCM has? Doesnt say anything

I’m wondering too, I’ve got a subscription to Shotgun News, and lately, I’ve been seeing ad’s For Fail-Zero, and they do advertise that “no lubrication” is needed…

Not the same as ionbond.

I believe that Colt used an older version in their SCAR candidate.

Not 100% on it, but I think LWRC might coat their boat carriers with the same material.

hmmm…good question…I saw the adds too and was wondering the same.

You are correct, I think they call it Their Ni-Corr finish.
