I was at the range and I met an older guy that wanted to sell me some ammo (7.62x39)
Most of it was Russian polymer cased stuff, hollow point, but scattered in it was maybe 75 rounds of brass cased stuff and around 20 rounds of these shells pictured…
Anybody have any idea what it is?
I bought the ammo anyway, it was around 650 rounds for 75 dollars, so not a bad deal, just curious as to what the copper-cased stuff might be.
I used to buy this stuff for $1.89 a box of 20 back in the day in CA!! 80’s and early 90’s.
No more imported due to Oly Arms and Pres. decree against Norinco products importation.
Not bad stuff for the AK or SKS.

I will agree that it’s Chinese ammo, but I’d disagree that it’s good stuff. While in Iraq for two years training Iraqi Police, we had several cases of this crap show up and I got to see the vaunted AK system take MANY dumps trying to shoot this stuff. It may have been just the lot we had, but the cases were either too soft or it was overpressure, because I saw dozens of cases where the AK extractor would pull through the case head, leaving the case in the chamber.
After some experience with this ammo, my IP trainers would just go nuts when a case of this stuff was opened up for training use!
Agree that it definately is NOT match grade ammo!! I don’t remember having any problems with it back in CA in the 80’s-90’s, but perhaps it was better built back then. Or, I was lucky!! Probably lucky…
