went to cabelas today....that this was interesting.

Went to cabelas to day, they had a sale on federal brown box xm193 for like. 6.50 a box.

Not only were they sold outa xm193 there was NO .5.56 OR .223 on the shelves. I talked to a guy who worked there and he said people are scared becouse there banning the m855,ss109 so everyone bought up everything and i meen everything.
Not even 40 gr rounds left , not one box. I havent seen their shelves empty since the crazyness scare.

People dont know the difference in m855 and think there banning all rounds for .223 and 5.56. So needless to say i didnt get any xm193 for 6.50 a box… Here we go again.

I’ve seen the same thing locally as well. Shelves are bare because many think it’s all 223/556 that is being banned.

I wish idiots would research before going all chicken little. I think a lot of it are those Jack asses that buy everything up only to sell it at triple the price like they are doing with 22.

LOL,Ya no .22 either i was looking for some to resight in my 50 year old Winchester.22.
Theve had .22 for a while now also,no problems, now they dont even know when their getting more in becouse a-holes are camping out and buying it up when they put it out again.

I just wanted a couple of boxes to work with and to let my wife shoot it some. Just when i thought i was going over board on the reloading stuff buying thousands of primers and projectiles , pounds of powder etc. It makes me wish i would have doubled it.

Now wiedners is sold outa the 1000 and 6000 count hornady .223 fmj wc bullets… As i said here we go again…lol

found 855 at Walmart today for 8 bucks a box, I bought them out :big_boss:

I’m working a gun show and everyone is saying there banning 223.
I said no it’s the m855 green tip and they say well they will end up taking this to so we need to get it while we can. There’s no talking to these people it’s crazy.

If you aren’t a black gun type and you read the stuff Fox News and others have been writing you could almost be forgiven for thinking that Obama is banning all 5.56/223 ammo. I hate sensationalism. On the other hand maybe that’s what it takes to get people’s attention now a days. God knows the anti’s have been doing it for years.

Some people do know the difference, they just assume the worst.

I’m not advocating that, of course, but with BO Barry, it is possible, I suppose.

One of my friends called me freaking out about it and looking online. Funny thing is that I can never get him to go shooting.

Regional and variable. In several chain retailers over the last few days, the shelves remain chock full of all major calibers and the sales are on. I even walked out with several hundred rounds of .22lr. When you find this “banning 5.56!” nonsense, stomp it. Flat.

I have a close friend who is 100% convinced NOBAMA will ban all 556 ammo and that 855 is only the first step.

I think he is nuts, which he might be…

I don’t doubt this administration would like to do so. It feels like this M855/SS109 thing is a probe. Testing to see what they can do without a notable reaction.

I think fortunately we are on high alert, even if a little too much. Maybe we’ve gotten to a point where we’re no longer going to tolerate the small cuts because we know where they will lead.

Maybe my repressed optimism is peeking out, but I’m happy the NRA-ILA is doing something and Congress has gotten involved. I know one thing, I won’t let up on this one till the ATF says “Bad idea. We’re not moving forward.”

Time to send an email to my Senator.

Maybe the reverse…don’t stomp it flat - fan and promote the news to:

  1. have people contact their elected officials to support 2A rights
  2. add new shooters to the sport e.g. I wasn’t going to buy an AR, but with this news, I’m buying
  3. promote unity among shooters to stick together, remember the “ban only .50 cal” - and the who cares it’s just .50 cal people?
  4. more buying stimulates the industry in general, more people supporting 2A hobbies
  5. get people to join the NRA and their local/state 2A organization

just a different point of view…

At the risk of turning this into another 855 thread, I’ve already contacted all of my Federal lawmakers.

Not surprised. I have a couple friends who are screaming sky is falling that the gov is banning all 5.56 ect. Even when I spoke with them and explained the situation as is, they still are convinced that M855 is already been banned and that the ATF is now wanting to ban all 5.56, even after I send them multiple links to the actual letter from the ATF. Moral of the story, some people are stupid or refuse to believe anything that doesn’t fit what they think they know. Unfortunately even our side is not immune to the liberal thought process.

On another note, and inline with the thread, was in my local Cabelas yesterday before rolling out to other places, anyway M855 was picked clean, and while they had a good bit of .223 and 5.56 it had been hit HARD, with shit that they couldn’t give away a couple week ago now being grabbed by the handfuls. I just rolled my eyes and looked at a couple other things. Ended up not buying anything.

Almost every bout of panic buying transfers over to other items. Give it a while, and I’m sure pistol ammunition will be affected as well.

Most of the 556 I have seen on the shelves is about 8 bucks a box. I lucked out the day after the ATF put it out with the sale PSA was having. I picked up five cases of 855. Funny thing is I never got an email for shipping for over a week and figured I lost out even tho my CC was charged. BUT lo and behold 3 days ago I got a shipping number from them. I was a bit sad and bought a case of ranger ammo for my 9mm for the heck of it the week after. This marks the first month I have spent this much cash on ammo at once. Now I am waiting for primers, powder, etc to start drying up.

I do have a question tho. Are places like wideners going to stop selling the green tip pulls ? It’s not loaded ammo, but I would guess it depends on how the ban is worded.

My understanding is that it would ban manufacturing of the round, so I don’t know if you could buy the bullets for reloading, but then again it would also ban sale of it to. Again this is just my understanding and I could be wrong.

That said, with the panic bullshit I am sure the bullets themselves would command a bit of a premium from the morons and if I am spending that much on the bullets I am buying something decent. Hell I can’t see spending more than .40 a round for the shit now, not when the CBC MK262 shit can be had for .60 a round and should group much better out of my BCMs. But this is me, and I am still holding out hope that it turns into the same bullshit after the last panic where nothing of note happened and most of the idiots buying the shit up just made colossal fools out of themselves while those with the ammo financed another rifle for five.

Yep. Just check the ammo search engines… There’s no .223 anywhere for less than $8.00 a box.

A co-worker of mine owns guns (but doesn’t shoot much). He asked me Friday whether I knew that the gov’t was banning all “M16” ammo. Sigh…

Let me preface by saying I manufacture large quantities of ammunition for a living.

Tuesday Rush Limbaugh popped off about the current administration banning 5.56/.223. He was corrected later in his show but that didn’t seem to matter. Within a few hours all of our bulk. 223 was gone, and most of our 55gr fmj. The following day all the V-max and other varmint loads. We still have a few hundred rounds of mk262 mod 0 clone and some heavier match stuff but only because we load that ammo with an RCBS charge master and a rock chucker so the price is kinda high.

When I left on Saturday we were about 25,000 rounds back ordered.

My arm is tired just thinking about it.
