Are you talking about that retarded KFC analogy?
OP: As others have said, I wouldn’t convert your Bushmaster into a BCM. Just piece together a complete BCM as funds permit.

Nope. That was Augee’s analogy. LtCol. Lutz posts as coldblue and he’s pretty much the guy who ramrodded the A2 project for the Corps.
Edited to add: Augee’s analogy was comparing the TDP to KFC’s original recipe and discussing fried chicken in general.
Are y’all suggesting that a BCM stick won’t handle cheap, steel ammo?

Must have been BCM, they are anal over there about that company. The site is all about money and I am sure many companies post there. Imagine, banning my post for mentioning M4 carbine forum saying it was a forum hostile to ar15 forum? Anal. Who cares? That is a hostile board anyway.
I am gonna buy the whole gun when I get a chance.
Six8: I’d be surprised if a BCM wouldn’t eat steel cased ammo. I think the reason people refer to a “beater gun” for eating steel is the results of LuckyGunner’s test of brass v. steel cased ammo, found here.
No. But I refuse to shoot that cheap dirty rusky garbage myself.
I second that! I just bought a BCM Blem SOCOM upper.
Great read! thanks for the link.

Gents, discussing another forum honestly accomplishes very little when you think about it. I’m not swinging a bat here, just offering a gentle course correction.
OP, I’d just keep an eye on the bolt lugs, check the staking on the gas key and castle nut, and drive on. Then shoot the crap out of it until it breaks.
Or just sell it and buy a BCM or Colt. You can get some very sweet deals right now from the dealers on this site.
Link? Sounds like good info.
Click on the “here” in my post. Alternatively . . . http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/brass-vs-steel-cased-ammo/
OP, along those lines, this was a good thread on here on correcting a BM’s shortcomings. You should def read through if you haven’t already.
Double post.
I would like to buy a carbon-15 dirt cheap or have one given to me for a little project I have in mind though. I think it would be a challenge to see if I could ever make it reliable.
I stumbled on this thread. I find myself agreeing with markm (a bit scary for me). The real problem with the censorship is that for the members of TOS no one bothers to correct disinformation or give facts. That means that the forum is actually doing a dis-service. The censorship protects the vendors and keeps members from getting butt hurt, but it makes real info almost impossible to get. I go to TOS about 4 times a year, that’s because there is so much crap that I cannot find very much useful stuff.
BOTTOM LINE: M4C is by far the best forum for the platform, but…If M4C begins to disallow an open exchange of facts, open dissent backed by critical thinking, then there is almost no point in coming to the forum. Over the last year or so I’ve been disappointed to see some of the fact based comparisons of components slip away. Why? Or am I missing something?
EDIT: Sorry moderator, but I just couldn’t contain myself.
You said it. TOS is crap and always has been. A$% holes in production.
Good interaction here. I can sell the Bushy and only pay a few hundred more for a BCM. That is mucho cheaper than adding stuff to make it a shooter.
Wonder what starts the crap? On TOS, BCM is the all the rave, but I asked why? I believe that their products are superior to many, but this is what I have read. I truly believe if you had a failure of a BCM part and posted on the other board, you are considered a Racist.
OTOH, there is complete ragging of Bushmaster on TOS and here as well, and thus they must be inferior. I do not think so, I think it is not as good as it sells for. No MPI, PT, M-16 BCG, while for the same money are a little more, Colt BCM. If Bushmaster dropped their price by $200.00 bucks then they would be great.
Notwithstanding this conjecture, I bought mine for $775.00, a Patrolman model and it shoots fine. I do want, however, a BCM and I will be lucky to get one for $1100.00. Reason I want the best, or perceived to be the best? ? OCD, Vietnam 1970-1971 Colt, jammin in the jungle…
Okay, I just deleted four posts. I made a point of telling people we don’t need any more cross-forum Internet drama. People who ignore directions from Mods/Staff get infractions for ignoring instructions.
That’s exactly what’s going to happen the next time folks ignore directions, and they are going to go away for a vacation. Read and Heed.
