After installing a Magpul UBR on my rifle I noticed a “rattle” that wasn’t there before…so after a closer look have found that the weights inside the buffer are moving around…first time I have encountered this…is this a problems that needs to be fixed asap, or is it one of those ignore it and go shoot kinda things???
Buffer is a Brownells Carbine buffer I bought way back in the day…I’m trying to find the bag it came in to get more specifics…but i’m affraid its gone.
There are three weights inside your carbine buffer seperated by rubber disks. They are supposed to move by design.
I have never taken the buffer apart, but that was what I understood…three weights and rubber disk, but I have never had a buffer that the weights moved around enough to hear and feel…am I being a little to picky about this?

First rule of mechanics, “when you change something and something screws up go back and look at what you changed”. Second is similar “look at what you had to move while changing part”.
If you didn’t change the buffer tube you might look to the UBR. If you did change the buffer tube remember there are two sizes of buffer tubes.
I have no “unusual” rattles in my rigs and don’t think it’s normal.
If you shake your buffer and you don’t hear the weights rattle, you either have a powder filled buffer, or your buffer isn’t working right. They have to move around to work.
