I am putting my carbine on a diet, and having seen the threads on lightweight builds, I have a couple of things in mind with those for reference.
However, I don’t recall any discussion on slings (which I consider a must-have, along with a light and red dot for this particular weapon).
I did try searching but no luck.
I ask because I currently have a padded VTAC on it. Comfy, sure, but you can feel the ounces when you weigh it in your hand.
I realize any other sling without a metal slider and foam will probably be lighter, but am interested if anyone has gone through actually looking for the lightest functional sling on the market.
Prefer a 2-point, no need for convertibles really, and quick adjust is prefered but am willing to listen to anyone’s take on this.
I mean, plenty of third world folks use a rope. Throw a knot on it that can slide to adjust length, and there you go. It fails the tacti-cool test, but I suppose you could use black rope, or 550 cord.
If it has to be webbing, you could probably make your own and use plastic hardware, or just use a USGI, and cut off the excess length.
Grey Search button, keyword “sling,” limited to thread titles only, and limited to the Tactical Gear subforum generates 189 threads with the word “sling” in the title.
