I would like to propose an idea for a new thread - “weapon profiles.”
Every site seems to have “picture threads” of members’ rifles, but most of the posts in such threads are just that - photos that don’t tell much (if anything) useful about the weapon. For example, I am often left wondering how much the rifle weighs, what it’s intended purpose is, and how satisfied the owner is with the set up, etc.
Based on this, I believe a “weapons profile” sticky thead would be much more useful to those looking for ideas, to see what others are doing with their rifles and how satisfied the owner is with their set up. Each post would have to include certain information, such as;
- make of upper and lower receiver
- a full list of all upgraded parts
- a full list of all accessories added to the rifle
- weight of rifle as modified
- statement of intended use
- short review of how well the rifle/modifications are meeting the owner’s expectations/needs
- illustrative photos
I am sure there are other points that should be included in the profile that I am not thinking of. The lead post in the thread would include the full list of points that must be included in each profile, and perhaps even a format that each profile should conform to. I believe these “profiles” would be far more useful than the typical '“picture thread.”
