Is there a way to determine the manufacture date of the Romanian WASR-10s? Mine has a 1967 stamped on the left side of the receiver and my dad’s has 1983. They are both Romanian and seem too similar to have manufacture dates 16 years apart. Wasn’t sure if that was the manufacture date or just some other random number that means something else. Thanks for the help.
Those are guns that the Romanians built on new commercial receivers for the US, but used demilled rifle kits from what are known as “G Kits”.
The G Kits are demilled rifles that the Romanian civil defense force (basically a citizen militia) called the Garda used.
All the WASR-10’s are current production, just using old demilled rifles for parts.

Actually I think it’s a bonus that they’re using demilled parts.
The quality and workmanship of the older Romanian rifles from the 60’s through the 80’s was much better, and the parts are from service rifles, not commercial grade stuff.
