I’m selling a rifle to a customer who resides in NY state and we all know they have crappy gun laws …He needs to have a “pre-ban” AK and asked me to look for a manufacturing date on the receiver of the rifle.So I looked and only found the serial number with a dash then a “85”…So was it manufactured in 1985?? It’s a Romanian WASR…thnx
No, it was built using a parts kit from a service rifle that was built in 1985, but the current rifle is most definitely post 1994.
It would not be legal in NY State with the bayonet lug and threaded muzzle.

There are no pre-1989 semi auto Romanian AKM’s in the country. There are no pre-1994 Romanian AKM’s in the country. There are some post '94 Romak-1’s, WUM-1 (7.62) and WUM-2 (5.45) out there.
So, no WASR’s with threaded muzzles or bayonet lugs are legal in NY. SAR-1’s and WASR-10’s that are neutered are legal.
