I am thinking about selling my aimpoint T-1 and putting an M4s on my 416 (piston) upper. Is there a special mount I need?

I’d get the LT-659 HK 416 mount for the 416 uppers.

“The CompM4 Aimpoint QRPII mount will work if you remove the spacer. There are two short screws in the box that are for mounting the QRPII sans spacer. The Norwegian military has their CompM4s on HK416s set up this way.”
Does this mean if I buy a CompM4s and just take the spacer out I can mount it without any further mounts? Does anyone know how it co-witnesses?
Without the space, the 4S model doesn’t allow you to run the screw on the starboard side, but that should work fine.
Then again, you can choose your excuse to pick up a LaRue mount.
Would it co-witness? middle, lower, et?
My M4 cowitnesses middle with the spacer.
Just curious, why are you selling the T1 for an M4s? Dot size?
Rule of thumb: If LaRue Tactical makes it, I need to buy it (and you probably do to).

I basically think the M4 is a better sight. I have an M4 on my 16 inch gun. I like the smaller dot, the bigger aperture, the sturdier construction, the easy to adjust knob and the easily available and cheap to switch battery. Basically, the only drawbacks are 6 oz and some additional bulk.
Those are the reasons I initially thought the M4S would fit my needs. The smaller dot is great, but my only remaining Aimpoint uses are on SBRs. The availability of AAs is extremely attractive, but I now have every optic that eats batteries using the same size lithiums.
Side by side against my H-1, the M4S really is better in every way but weight…I just care more about the latter for my recent builds.
