My local one mostly went the other way, it’s dropped a little on some ammo…great.![]()
I’ve seen worse happen…mostly comes to a 2 cent per round increase.
Yeah I went and picked some up today and saw that.
They did finally have a few different flavors of .45 and some .38, as well as some defensive 9mm, which they haven’t had in quite a while.
It’s bizarre that they kept the same price through the whole craze, and now that everything’s looking up, they raise the prices. It’s still cheaper than I can find it anywhere else, though, but not by much. I tried stocking up on it when I could, but for some reason all I have left is a bunch of empty brass. ![]()
I saw alot of Federal 45acp this week in 4 out of the 5 wal marts I frequent.
I was driving today and thinking, “there’s no way…impossible…” lol
Good thing I bought 500 rounds last week. Time to start ordering online again.
.
Last year I bought Winchester 45 230g JHP for $19.97 at one Wal-Mart and the next day at another Wal-Mart, about 20-miles away had the same ammo for $29.99. I asked to see the department manager and showed her my receipt for the same ammo the day before. She said, “Let’s call!” So, she called some corporate pricing center and they told her is was the “market price” meaning that was the price for the area.
What’s goofy is the cheaper ammo was in Baton Rouge and the higher priced ammo was in Donaldsonville (a small po-dunk town). Seemed backwards?
So, their prices vary significantly by area.
.
On Monday I purchased Federal 9mm for $9.47, dang was going to buy more but I told myself they won’t raise the prices.

Guys, you have cheaper options.
Last time WallyWorld jacked the price on Win White Box I gave up on them completely and haven’t looked back.
Ammo is currently trending down. Wal-Mart is still trending up. Screw them.
I agree with Heavy Metal. Buy online. I think Natchez is having some sales on ammo right now, especially 5.56 stuff.

When you compare apples to apples, WalMart is still cheaper (no shipping charges)
I buy online & avoid the typical WM “experience”.
They raised the price about two hours before I got there.

At $9.47/50, Wal-mart has had the cheapest brass 9mm throughout the whole craze. At $10.47/50, they’ve pulled even with most others. Now that there’s a bit around and it’s cheaper, I may start trying out steel-cased ammo and see how it works, at least until I get a reloader going.
The WalMart near me is still selling 45acp federal for 15.97
Walmart, even with the increase, is cheaper than pretty much any other local shops, and competitive with bulk buying online prices.
with the price increase, wal mart 40sw federal and wwb run about $320 per thousand.
You can get blazer aluminum cased or russian steel cased 40sw ammo online for around $270 per 1,000 give or take.
Now I just gotta figure out which vendor to fax my drivers license to.
Don’t forget the tax.
Shipping depends on how close you are to the distributor. I am 1 day UPS ground to Widners and 2 to AIM. My shipping basically cancels out the sales tax and in the case of Widners is less.
ETA Natchez. Yep, I have used them too. They are GTG.
I have gotten ammo from J&G in AZ before at a good price but the shipping east of the Mississippi eat me alive so they may be an option for you westers.
Truth is it’s still not a bad price even compared to online pricing for a comparable product.
Holy shit, 3 wal marts here in SE michigan are selling 7.62x39mm and 40sw TULA AMMO!!!
I bought 2 boxes of 40sw for 12.97 each, not bad.
