Does anyone have experience with the differences in quality control or if there are performance/reliability issues with the US made receivers vs the Czech made ones? I’m saving for a VZ-58 to be used as a dependable shooter, not to collect in unused condition, (although holding value over time would be nice). Was wondering about the $300-$400 dollar difference between the two. Any experience is appreciated and thanks for your time-

The Century Arms ones are crap. The Ohio Ordnance ones are decent but actually cost more than the Czech imports.
You want a foreign receivered one, or an Ohio Ordnance, but the ones imported by Czechpoint are the same as the ones sold through CZ-USA, and run about $800.00.
I went with Czechpoint. It is a really good weapon sytem and there are many accessories coming to the market right now and soon. I don’t think you could go wrong with Czechpoint.

Looks like the OOW guns come with 2 more mags, a strap and a folding stock which would be nice. Adds about $100 to the cost though. I do like the look of the OOW finish a bit better, at least from the pics. Looks more like the earlier greyish-blue paint as on Templars early model shown in the thread “Czech it out…”
Thanks Templar. Was curious if there was a difference between the CZ and Czechpoint offerings. Prices appear to be closer to $900 but that includes 2 mags and some accessories as well.
Thanks for the word oef24. I am leaning toward the Czechpoint and the “Military Classic” in particular. It’s the most expensive at $950 but I do like the wood furniture and maybe it would be cooler to shoot than the Bakelite, (?). Thanks again for the replies fellas.
Wood furniture is a lot better than the bakelite.
Just remember in most cases an import receiver sporter modification will always be considered more original and valuable than a domestic receiver part kit gun. Czechpoint also offers a folder model and folding stocks for sale, changing them is pretty easy. But the OOW guns do have a bayo lug and flash hider so they are closer to the original military rifle.
I bought an OOW rifle years ago when I never thought I could get a VZ any other way, thought I got a steal for $900 NIB with 4 mags and kit. It wasnt a bad deal, but the finish had some bubbles and imperfections, and trigger pin has walked out ever so slightly leaving the gun inoperable a couple times (easy fix, just a pain lining it up).
Had I known there would be imports I would have done 2 things,
- bought a bunch of cheap kits and an armory kit
- waited for the imports
Thanks eternal24k. Those types of details are the kind I am interested in finding out about. Not that I will condemn the OOW offerings based on the info or anything, just interested in any kind of short comings that folks may have experienced out there with the various VZ’s available.
Which is nice since the rifle will be getting used and, I assume, will be losing some value as a result. I do wonder what kind of supply/availability of VZ’s we will see in say the next decade. 
Good to hear A. Being in AZ you know the kind of heat we have to deal with even before you start shooting! I definitely favor the look of wood too for what it’s worth.
