VX-R Patrol vs Mark AR

Leupold has introduced a new scope in their Mark AR line, a 3-9x40 with a Firedot Tactical Milling reticle. This appears to be quite similar to their VX-R Patrol scope, with the major apparent difference being a one inch tube vs the VX-R’s 30mm tube. Supposedly many 30mm scopes actually have internals identical to those for a one inch scope, so if this is the only difference I don’t see how paying the extra money for the 30mm tube is worthwhile. However, the VX-R also has .1 windage and elevation adjustments and a motion sensor that automatically turns off the Firedot. Has anyone had the opportunity to handle or use the Mark AR Mod 1 3-9x40 model? Thanks!

I have no experience with the 3-9, but I am a huge fan of the VX-R Patrol. I have one mounted on a Daniel Defense V7 and it is my workhorse carbine. Ive used it (rather successfully) out to 700 yards for precision work and it has worked just as well for 2-3 gun matches.
