Vulcan Armament Galil Rifles

I just recently learned of these rifles, which apparently are made with 100% completely new parts, and have chrome lined, 1:7 (or 1:9 I think) bbls.
They also apparently can be had in THREE calibers of 5.56, 7.62x39, and 7.62x51. I think you can use AR mags in the 5.56, (possibly with an adaptor).
Also, STANDARD AK mags can be used in the 7.62x39 rifle as well. They even show Micro Galils with something like 8" bbls I think.

So, I’m wondering if anyone here has any knowledge, or experience with Vulcan Armament Galils? I’ve always wondered WHY on earth there isn’t at least ONE manufacturer out there, who has perfected the building of Galil type rifles, which are equal to the quality of a genuine IMI Galil.
I know there is enough demand, and SO MANY AK users would jump on a quality AFFORDABLE Galil in a split second. I know I would at least.
Anyhow, all my research on current Galil offerings has only shown me the following options that are available, some moreso than others:

  1. Ohio Rapid Fire Galil: From what I’ve heard, they are not of a very high quality, and while some people are happy with theirs, I’ve heard of many receivers having issues that must be addressed, and overall quality could be much better for the price. Simply put, from what I’ve read, I just don’t think the ORF Galils are of a high enough quality, especially considering the price. (this company makes and sells Galil receivers and some of the other Galils listed below also use these ORF receivers)
Calibers Listed as being Available: 5.56/7.62x39

  2. “Elite”? Galil Conversions: STAY AWAY from this choice. Apparently the guy building these doesn’t really know what he’s doing, and these Galil conversions suck. Calibers Available: Unsure. Most likely 5.56 only. POSSIBLY 7.62x39 as well?

  3. Century Arms Galil. Again, not a very high quality Galil here. Possibly much better quality than #2 above, but not as well built as the ORF Galils (#1) above. Quality is probably along the lines of the Century AK’s, and we all know they are simply inexpensive built AK’s, which leave a lot to be desired. Not much more to say here. Calibers Available: Unsure, most likely 5.56 only?

  4. SER II Galils custom built for members of TheAkForum.net by Troy Sellars of InRange. I believe SER II stands for “Special Edition Rifle” and with this being the SECOND annual? SER rifle built for the forum, you then have the “II” denotation. Last time I checked, they were currently working on the SER III rifles, and I believe it was another AK variant of some kind, but I do not recall the details at this time. Anyhow, back to the task at hand.
These SER II Galils frequently come up for sale on the forums, and I’ve actually almost jumped on scooping one of these up for myself on a number of occasions. Each time however, I continue to hear of problems these rifles have exhibited. Many of the F/S ads that I have seen for these Galils, will even contain a list of problems/issues that have risen. I would have to dig out some of the recent F/S threads to refresh my memory on all the minor issues that some of these rifles have had, but I do know I’ve read of quite a few problems that have been of concern with these unfired rifles. Fortunately, I think MOST of these issues, are usually of the type that can be worked out, or fixed rather easily. I am not a Galil “expert” however, so I’m not 100% sure of what is fixable, and what is not. YMMV with each rifle.
Unfortunately, one of the disappointments I personally have with this Galil, is that it was only built in ONE caliber (5.56). Oh how I WISH it had been built in 7.62x39! At least they did offer them with a mag adaptor however, so that standard AR mags could be used. Nice touch there.
Still though, based on all the Galil related research I have done, I would have to say that these SER II Galils from Troy Sellars of InRange are probably the highest quality Galils that are floating around these days. That is, of course, excluding the Genuine IMI Galils that will cost SUBSTANTIALLY more than the SER II. SER II’s go for about $1200-$1300 usually. IMI’s go for $3K+

IF there is ANYONE here reading these evaluations, who might possibly know of another Galil on the market, which is readily available, or even “somewhat” available (such as the SER II’s, which come up for sale from time to time), I would be VERY INTERESTED to hear from you, and get any and all relative info!
Basically, I’ve been trying to find a HIGH quality Galil on the market, which is either READILY AVAILABLE AS “NEW”/UNFIRED, or can be ORDERED and built “as new”, or similar.
I mean, I’m not looking to break my bank account WIDE OPEN, know what I mean? I just cannot swing the cost of a real IMI Galil, AS MUCH as I would LOVE to own one. !
So, if anyone knows anything about these “Vulcan Armament” Galils listed above, which is the sole reason I started this thread, then let us know guys!
I am not getting my hopes up however, as I know there is a GOOD chance that someone is going to step in and say that these Vulcans are just total junk, or at least NOT that high of a quality. That’s usually the case. However, I just had to ask, as I honestly have NEVER heard anything about these Vulcans until recently.
What say guys? Anyone got some info/experiences? Any Vulcan OWNERS here???
Any info appreciated!

Almost forgot the link guys. Make sure to check out all the models, and specs that you can find. Interesting that they offer all THREE calibers, chrome lined bbls, with 1:7 twist (and I think also 1:8 or 1:9 as well?), they use AK mags in the 7.62x39 rifles (instead of the more rare 7.62x39 Galil mags), and they just look a lot better than MANY of the other Galils I’ve seen on the market these days.
Here is the link guys. http://www.vulcanarmament.com/cgistore/store.cgi?page=/new/catalog.html&setup=1&ida=86&idp=0&his=0&cart_id=.

Avoid ANYTHING out of Vulcan like the plague.

WELL DAMN!

SOMEHOW I KNEW that might be the case Lumpy! Thank you for posting however, and letting us all know!

I guess this thread needs to NOW become centered around discussion of what other Galil offerings are currently out there/available? Either Galils that are currently IN PRODUCTION, being sold as brand new weapons
-OR-
-Galils that are still floating around, and are somewhat readily available, which are of a high quality, and simply do not cost as much as the genuine IMI Galils, which literally break the bank.
Thanks so much guys. I really appreciate it.

Buy one of the IMI ones imported by Magnum Research, Action Arms, or Springfield Armory.

WHOA! Springfield Armory? I had NO idea they also imported them. Nice touch there Tim. I appreciate it. You’re such an Ak genius! A true plethora of AK knowledge…

They didn’t import many, they were all post '89 import ban, pre '94 AWB.

They were all in ban configuration and will have to be unbanned, but they’re a little less expensive than the Magnum Research or Action Arms rifles.

Reading your posts, nothing is going to satisfy you until you get an Israeli built one.
