I recently picked up a AAC Element 2 and use been using it on a 22/45 for target practice in my backyard. I also have a 10/22 that I plan to thread the barrel and use as well. I know a spotting scope is way overkill for my needs and honestly have been making due with just naked eyes or a telephoto camera lens or rifle scope. But the Vortex Solo seems to have pretty good reviews and was wondering if it would work for what I want to do. Which is call groups at 25-100 yards. Also any preference on the R/T ranging reticle? They are all pretty cheap at around $100 or so.
the 8x w/ ranging reticle is a neat design for a monocular but it wouldn’t take the place of a spotting scope, IMO. not for .22 holes at 100 yards…
You would be a lot better off with a cheap 40x (less than $100) spotting scope. GH
I like 40x(+) to see .22 holes in black targets.
Thanks. That sucks, I was hoping for a cheap alternative. Guess I will go back to the scope.
