Vortex Red Dots

Thank ya! Like how yall are pretty noob friendly. Google pulls up threads off of AR-15 forum and the guys are cussing each other out and telling people to Google search and thread search instead of posting. Um kinda defeats the whole purpose of having a forum…

That’s because you caught us in a good mood. Usually we just stuff noobs into the little orange SEARCH button and ship them off crying for their mommies

Ha!

Be sure to do a review. Ive got sparc’s on my 15-22 and DDV7. My next rifle may get the holosun if all goes well with them.

They like a good clone but not sure about this company… They been around for a while?

I’ll have it today. I can’t wait. I’m interested in this motion activated auto on feature. I’ll be able to zero and shoot it this weekend.

The holosun has the 3 things I was looking for. Battery life, Lower 1/3, and 2 MOA dot. I was this close to buying the MD-08… So I hope I made the right choice.

Do you have any insight on the durability of the holosun? I don’t really expect Aimpoint durability but if it is the same as the PA red dot that they did the torture test on I would have a hard time spending the extra money on an Aimpoint since I am not mil/leo.

I have an Aimpoint Pro on my 6920 and love it! I recently picked up a Primary Arms Multi-reticle, AA battery red dot from a friend and put it on a High Standard AR. I like it as well, but don’t much care for the multi-reticle part of the optic.

The Holosun looks great on paper. But…The lack of a kill flash and no absolute cowhitness turn me off a little. Im guessing you could get absolute by using the short mount included and a short riser purchased separately, though I wish it came with a short, absolute and a shim for lower 1/3 out of the box. Hoping a gen 2 solves these issues.

I’m also extremely curious to see how these are. I have a couple of the MD-06 red dots from Primary Arms and they have been stellar for the price, but I keep eyeing the Holosun based on it’s features. I’ve talked to one person who has one and they said the motion activated feature actually works great, and so far it seems well built. If it truly stacks up to how it looks on paper, it should be a very promising RDS for a great price.

I have astigmatism as well and run a comp m4 and h1’s in 2moa on low power with no problem. I’ve had to send my beat to hell comp m4 back for service and had it back the next week no questions asked.

I don’t know crap about it. I just jumped in. I’ll be messing with it in a few hours.

Gotcha, I like other people to be the guinea pigs

The first thing I noticed it that is IS NOT lower 1/3. More like lower 1/10th of the irons. My irons are almost useless with this thing on.

If the sight is reliable and sturdy enough, that may not bother me for casual use.

How ‘bout’ a pic or two?

I’ll try to get a pic of the cowitness later, but here’s the unit on the gun in the middle. I do like the sight, but I wish the irons were a better back up option.

Try ditching the tall mount and going short with a short riser , should lower the tube closer to absolute.

I just finished a build with an A2 front sight and a Daniel Defense fixed rear sight. I added the Sparc to the set up and got absolute co witness. In fact the battle sight ring on the DD rear sight fills the sparc glass perfectly. Yet to have time to shoot it though and beat it up. But the set up works great in theory. The blue glass is a bit weird and the magnifier is a waste.

ETA picture was taken before I got the DD rear sight

I’m not sure the screw/fastener pattern matches to any other risers yet. I’m going to run it as is for a while.

Looks good! Hope it works great as well.
