I just got my WOA SS 20’ barrel and want to install a Vltor flash suppressor on it. I just screwed it on finger tight and after just its first turn it got real tight, It doesn’t appear to be cross threaded but what is the best way to hold the barrel from turning while wrenching it on… I have a Brownell upper receiver block but I worry that if I use that it may “torque” the upper receiver.
The flash hider should thread all the way on without any resistance. Are you saying it gets tight after one rotation onto the barrel?
Yes, the day I got the barrel I took the flash suppressor and just screwed it on finger tight to see how they looked together and it stopped after about 1/4 turn. I look at the threads of each end and they look ok… They are both 1/2-28 threads…
I would screw on another flash hider on the new barrel, without force, just to determine if the problem is with the VLTOR FH or the WOA. An A2 is around $3.
Maybe some grunge was left on the threads during manufacture; clean them with a brass brush and bore cleaner, and try again.

Up date here , good news I ordered a 1/2" x 28 tap and just "chased " the threads of the finish that had gotten on them… It screwed on my WOA SDM-R barrel just fine . Thanks for every ones help this site is just GREAT…
